Toppling Charge - Bug

    We don't have a date for the next DLC update yet. As for the list of other bugs mentioned, we can look into it next week but please make a separate thread. This one is specifically for Toppling Charge and needs to stay on topic. Also, at first glance, we will likely need more information for many of these points. Simply saying Sun Shield is useless isn't giving us much to go off. Is it broken? If so, in what way? Do you have feedback about what you think would make it better? Is there a reason why you aren't using it?
    @ZOS_GinaBruno Any idea what caused the Toppling Charge bug? I mean it was around with an ICD but ever since this new patch it has been incredibly unstable, much like extended/empowering chains where the skill just wont go off unless you use a potion but timing this in Maelstrom is very difficult and it gives me such a lack of mobility where it would be very useful. It really hurts the class as a whole in many different aspects to leave a bug like this for a next major update and make players deal with it for 3-4 months before it's looked in to. That being said, I do hope issues like this with certain skills get priority fixes instead of making the class suffer until major updates. I know it may or may not cause internal problems but it's nice to have a clarification that you guys are working on trying to fix it.

    I agree. The skill has been bugged since launch, I see no reason why we should have to wait until next DLC. I think over a year of it being broken is long enough.

    Sorry for the delay, guys! We have a fix going into the Thieves Guild DLC for Toppling Charge so you won't become locked after using this ability.

    please @ZOS_GinaBruno stop waiting for good game fixes like this and waiting for a DLC to bring them out.... lots of little patches fixing little things over one large patch does wonders more for us as players honestly i think everyone would agree

    Honestly working around a problem only makes it seen as a smaller problem. I'd rather not play the game then have to smoke a pot every time the game glitches. Next think you know you'll be wearing an aluminium foil hat to help with server lag in Cyro.

    @ZOS_GinaBruno People shouldn't have to wait for a damn DLC to get essential bugfixes, get some lessons in common sense and throw your fix into the next regular patch.

    The only reason they are holding back these type of fixes for the DLC is so they can market it with stuff for those who don't purchase the DLC.

    These type of game breaking bugs/glitches need to be fixed and would be nice to have a real fix. If I remember right it wasn't too long ago that a fix for this ability was suppose to have been implemented, apparently not.

    The 2h charge also causes glitches and locks out other abilities and weapon swapping and there is actually more issues where combat animations are causing lockouts and glitches. It seems like it has become worse since Orsinium.

    Despite how poor of a time I had last round on using this skill I decided to try it again. During my evening I needed about 4 potions to get un-stuck and was only unable to charge 3-4 times. That wasn't a bad run, but if getting killed unless I was able to drink a potion and being unable to use a skill when its needed is not bad... Really hope this upcoming 'fix' proves more final than the last few.

    Yeah, unfortunately it's a very poor fix which I'm sure was unintended. Basically saying, "I hope you won't need this ability for the next 30secs+ or risk using it at your own expense." lol

    This bug is so frustrating. Dual wield templar is completly broken because of it. In every fight whenever I use it all my control over character (exept for movin) is gone for random period of time..

    My typical fight goes like this:
    -ganking somone, kocking him down with entropy an vampire bane
    -topplin charge on them, witch resoults in skill bar and break free and aa being locked for some reason.
    -running around unable to do anything while opponent is beating on me, just hoping my hp bar outlasts the BUG.
    -end up dead after 20+ sec being unable to cast or breakfree.

    So yeah, pure JOY! I need that fix soon not after few months - its small but essential Class fix so i cant see any reason to delay it. plys Zos :)

    Man I can't believe i spent so much money on this game and this skills is just broke on top of broke. The great thing is when the "fix" doesn't work it will be 4-6 months before the next fix.

    but there giving away a million dollars :D

    If it was a Nightblade issue it would have been hotfixed the day after it was found. But it's a Templar issue so they will fix it in a few months. It will then be discovered after the patch that it didn't work.

    Unfortunately when ZOS tries to fix something at least 3 other things get broken or glitched.

    Let's hope they are getting better at it or maybe hire someone that knows how to do it.

    That's my point exactly. This has been a bug for like a year now. They have tried multiple times to fix it, it's still broken and now they want us to wait a FEW MORE MONTHS for a fix. It's like one slap in the face after the next.

    @ZOS_GinaBruno is there anyway this could be addressed prior to the release of the next DLC? I know with the Refreshing Path bug for NB's, that was addressed the very next day. I would hope the same could be done for this bug? Or at the very least at the next incremental patch?

    I know, but the fact is they were capable of doing it... so I'm not seeing why this couldn't be addressed as well. It does affect gameplay quite a bit.

    This is a good example of it not working at all.

    I wish I could record where you get bar locked after it goes off and cannot do anything. @ZOS_GinaBruno this is what I am talking about, this is jus ONE of the problems with the skill. This really should be fixed way prior to DLC release.

    I also strongly suspect that no-one at ZOS has a serious love for Templar. They've been pushing us as healerbots for over a year and are just now starting to listen to some of our feedback.

    When it happens to me I get out of it by hitting the shift key. However, should not happen and you lose lots of time before you see skills are locked.

    Just leveling another Templar for the sake of 10% Magicka Bonus from Altmer Passive. I was running vMA lately with my old one (Nord) with toppling charge and was only once locked out my skills in 4-5 runs. Now for grinding up my new char I decided to go with Explosive Charge for AoE Damage and was using the skill nearly on every mobgroup, until level 30 I was locked out two times, then decided to put reflective light on my bar and I used it in mobs aswell. From then on I was locked every second time. I didn't use any DoTs before, so I assume the cast-time/cooldown of toppling/explosive charge gets extended by DoTs and so locks you out, will test this further.
    I hope this gets fixed before the next DLC and I think they would do if they knew how.

    Interesting find Flak. Thinking on it I don't recall getting locked when entering a fight with charge on my stam-templar but if I used it mid fight (with an axe and a lot of bleeds going on) I would get locked real frequently. I'll also see if I can find anything that makes sense.

    My magicka DK used Invasion because he had no other options. Chains is no good if you're trying to YOLO into a group and light them up. It wasn't ideal but it got the job done.

    What really hurts is having a gap closer that is awesome in theory but oftentimes a liability in practice.

    That is interesting indeed. I will be looking into this as well and see what I find. If it is DoT related though... that is going to be extremely hard for me to work around with my build. hmm

    This is the good bug. Then there's the bug that locks you out of your skills, blocking, and attack for like 10 seconds. Some people say your buy has something to do with elevation but i don't see that being an issue where you were.

    I moved Sun Fire (morphs) off my bar to level another skill on my 2nd Templar and it still happens. Though I pretty only play him in PVP so maybe someone else's DOTs are causing it. Happens mostly in the middle of combat but that probably because i use it more in combat as its the only mobility I got. I use it to 'streak' from many enemies to a caster to create distance.

    I'm leveling a mag-nightblade now, when I bother to log in at all. Really just want to play the Templar.

    All I want for Xmas is my Templar(s) to be fixed. There's no joy in ESO with out it.
