In my opinion, combat is the product you buy when you play an MMO. Using that thought and thinking of it like a ganeric business, ESO and FF14 are completely opposites.
ESO is an amazing product with atrocious systems and FF14 is amazing systems and an atrocious product.
ESO combat is the best there is but the multiplayer focus stinks, the group content stinks, the end game stinks, and the games general direction and identity stinks.
FF14 has a terrible combat system but the group finder works well, the questing works well, the fate system works well, the endgame is well defined with clear progression and direction.
Bottom line: ESO is amazing product with bad execution and ff14 is bad product with amazing execution.

That was actually more or less what happened with me. The deep sea content, even if nice, was....bland.
Tera still has the best melee combat of any MMO out there, it's just a pity the rest of the game doesn't follow .
They are two very different MMO's.
Whereas I enjoyed FF XIV for a short burst, the cartoony elements just got too much for me. Though I do love a Chocobo.
The reason I will always stick here is because it is Elder Scrolls. There is no game lore that is more fascinating to me.
