You've got to be kidding!
You mean literally since launch/prelaunch, PC? Wow!
Yup.I swear it.Only one.Heck,I've only gotten two yellow recipes. Those are the only yellows I have ever gotten.Odd,huh?
This kind is odd indeed.. I don't suppose I have to ask if you're using the according passives for refining mats? (Since you're a player of the first hour, you'll know anyways, I'm sure).
What are your hirelings dropping, do they give you some useful stuff, at least (also with the according passives)?
And yeah, it's a lot easier with these recipes, I've "only" gotten two as well, it's the one from a quest in Wrothgar, and the Psijic Ambrosia recipe I combined out of fragments^^
Believe me,all my passives should allow for gold/yellow items, but nope. It's just funny.I dont get bothered by it,until I attempt to make something legendary.THEN it gets annoying,..and expensive as I have to buy what I need to use to make it Legendary.
The only time I ever seem to get Dreugh Wax is from refining leather. Usually about 1 per 100, but sometimes it can be more or less, very much dependent on the nature of RNG. I can't remember ever getting it from refining cloth. Way easier just to buy it from a guild seller.

The game only HAS ONE yellow recipe that you get from a quest.....and anyone with DLC can get it

The game currently has TWO yellow recipes. She didn't mention them coming both from a quest.

Then I guess it's really bad RNG combined with the generally lousy drop rate... Lately, it got me, too...
During my time in ESO (from the beginning), I gathered a TON of Tempering Alloy and barely had any use for them since none of my characters is a tank, they're wearing 1-2 pieces of heavy armor maximum and much later I started using metal weapons with only two characters.
So far so good, the Tempering Alloy was still enough to improve all that stuff. I still had a ton left and thought, why not selling a large part of them? Well, I did, they sold like hot Sweetrolls since I lowered the price per 8 in a bundle. And I thought I still could rely on the drops from refining, hirelings or writs to always have just enough for a new piece of armor or a weapon to improve.... Well, no, I can't. it's all gone, and pretty much nothing drops ANYwhere anymore in weeks. So my newest daggers are purple. Really, I even can break down outworn legendary armor and I'm out of luck, or I refine thousands of ores and still get no drop anymore.
It's basically the same now with Dreugh Wax and Rosin as well, the drop rate must be a joke!

You need extraction passive in each profession, e.g. Metal Extraction in Blacksmithing to have 3/3 points. I can't comment about actual skill level, because i only have extracted with maximized crafters. Anyway, reaching that passive needs rather high skill level.Does one's crafting skill affect the number of gold/purple drops when refining? In other words, will a high crafting skill yield more/better tempers than a low crafting skill?

The real killer is the Aspect rune drop rates where I don't think I have seen a single Kuta from harvesting since Orsinium dropped vs. one every couple of days before - but I don't have actual number data for that.

Maybe the trick is to not make new weapons and armor every couple of weeks or so?
