What is the approximate % chance of extracting Dreugh Wax from raw materials if one has 3/3 in the Unraveling skill?

My rate of getting wax is abysmal. From the last 4 stacks of Raw Void Bloom I refined I got 1 wax.

Feels like the skill points I spent are ignored and it's completely RNG.

Has anyone found noticeably better success with certain raw materials over others?

I used to get around 1 per stack for void bloom, but apparently all gold temper drops have been nerfed since Orsinium...

Yeah it does seem to have gotten nerfed moreso.. or something..

I feel like the Craglorn writ reward has a better chance than refining. :-|

People say I troll with this. But do a lap of Auridons coast. And slay every crab,bear and bat. Collect all the low level mats from them and do the public dungeon and you'll find you get a lot more waxes from the lowest level materials over the highest ones. True stuff.

I found I was only getting gold mats from Void Bloom myself, none from the others...

Really? I killed tons of stuff there,and hit most of the containers,but got none.I wonder if they change what's in them from time to time.

Rate is still 5% of refinements drop golden improvements. Because stack of 200 is 20 refinements, it gives one golden on average.

Nothing has been nerfed nor buffed in Wrothgar. All raw mats give the same chance, e.g. Jute has the same chance as Ancestor Silk. What you experience is rng from a tiny sample.

They have nerfed hireling gold drops at least, as I haven't gotten any since Orsinium (perhaps even IC).

This kind is odd indeed.. I don't suppose I have to ask if you're using the according passives for refining mats? (Since you're a player of the first hour, you'll know anyways, I'm sure).
What are your hirelings dropping, do they give you some useful stuff, at least (also with the according passives)?

And yeah, it's a lot easier with these recipes, I've "only" gotten two as well, it's the one from a quest in Wrothgar, and the Psijic Ambrosia recipe I combined out of fragments^^

Something is odd though, I've never once recieved a tempering alloy on my blacksmith, not one, since console release, refining stacks since day one.

A few days ago I had a huge supply to refine, got 0, I've probably done neigh on 20+ stacks and zilch, drives me crazy.

I've had more temp alloys that anything else. Which is agging as I never use it for myself. Never ever ever had a rosin from hireling or writ. Ever.

Thank you for the info. That is good to know. True it's a tiny sample;; whew, guess I need better RNG.

Hold on to them cause these seems to be most valuable and rare. Sell for 8/9k each on PC

Dreugh wax I had about 50 of them. They sell for 3k

Rosin 3k as well. All woodworking mats don't get used much.


It's all RNG. I got 2 dreugh wax from 40 Ancestor silk yesterday. It also means you can deconstruct 10.000 and only get 1

On ps4 it definitely seems like there is less around, 3-4 weeks ago you could pick them up for 4-5k, now people are tryna sell them the 7-8k and it's rare to see anything different

I am not sure about ps4, but on PC there were few exploits causing oversupply. There was e.g. the Glenumbra pig farming. I think they are closed now, an we have returned back to normal.

Please check that you have the extraction, e.g. "Metal Extraction" in blacksmith skills maxed.

The drop rate was lowered to make you do the writs just respec and do 9/10 crafting so you can use Shadow Hide and Void mat it's a lot cheaper.

Truth be told I get get two in one mail once?

Believe me,all my passives should allow for gold/yellow items,but nope. It's just funny.I dont get bothered by it,until I attempt to make something legendary.THEN it gets annoying,..and expensive as I have to buy what I need to use to make it Legendary.

I've gotten a total of four since I started playing. Also, one tempering alloy and 5 Rosin. Been playing since mid June.

On NA PC, sometimes you can find Dreugh Wax at a good price. A month ago, I was checking out a guild trader, and there were 2 for sale for 3200 gold (1.6k each). There was another person trying to sell it at 2k each. Needless to say, I said that a certain guild trader had it for really cheap, and he ended up having to cut his prices .

On another note, I find Kuta to be really hard to find. I've found a total of 3 in resource nodes, and 5 in heavy sacks. But, the other day, I saw a guy run past an aspect runestone thing, and I went over to harvest it, and in it was a Kuta.

Ooh rule of thumb; never sell anything that's blue or over to a merchant as it's usually worth something. Even green tempers and the like are good for selling stacks of in stores.
