Piercing Mark - any counters?

I've started playing my stamblade a lot more after IC dropped (for obvious reasons) and there is one ability that is an absolute death sentence when used against me: Piercing Mark.

I don't personally use it because I can't find the space for it on my bars, but people use it on me all the time. I'm a guerrilla wrecking ball until this ability hits me and then I start getting focused hard and become helpless.

What counters can you guys suggest for this?

Note: I tried using Purge for a while, but it doesn't seem to work consistently and it destroys my magicka pool because it has such a hefty cost.

Kill the one who marked you. Not much else you can really do except try to run away lol

Run or kill the NB. One time on ps4, I ran into Sypherpk randomly in cyrodiil and I was doing pretty well against him, but he would cloak up behind a tree and come back with fresh stats, while wearing me down. Then a vr4 teammate marked him and Sypherpk was dead within the next 10 seconds. The only solution he gave on his stream was to kill the NB who marked him so I'll take his word that there isn't much you can do

    your only 3 options:

Purge; which is unrealisitc for a stamblade(as is cloak spam to all you cloak haters:D)

Killing the NB who marked you, which will be difficult, but not impossible.

Get killed by the NB. the easiest, most cost efficient, and often quickest solution. Use this if you find using purge and killing the NB unattainable.

Yeah thanks guys. My first instinct when I get marked is always to run, but that is wasted effort. I guess my only hope is to slash wildly at the other NB and hope to wreck him fast enough to get away.

One more thing I'm wondering - if I get marked and try to cloak, can everyone still see me or only the NB who marked me?

that i do not know. I have marked people with it and everyone has seen them; and other times they have not.

If I were you, I'd assume everyone can and try to find an isolated place. When you are marked by piercing mark, DO NOT TRY TO RUN.(at least as long as its just you and that NB) Stand your ground; get block up or get a damage shield up. Prepare to CC break as soon as you are hit, as most NBs hit you then use fear. Some NBs will only jump you if you are not blocking; so if you encounter one, keep block up and try to find some allies to help you.

As a stamblade the only thing you can do is kill the person who marked you. Easier said than done against multiple opponents. Especially if there's more than one NB xD Trying to run is usually a death sentence though, get in their face and keep them on the defensive and use LOS until you can pinpoint the person who marked you.

You should try slot mark yourself, it's the best counter hands down to other nightblades. I know magblades can purge it off but you can reapply it alot more cheaply than they can remove it. They'll be wasting magicka.

Anytime I'm marked everyone can see me, but if someone can correct me I'm nearly sure it wasn't always this way.

I'm pretty sure only the NB that marked you can see. A lot of the times it seems like they can see, but it's either a lagged ability being cast, aoe, detection pot, brilliant Mage light, or the original NB nocking you out of dark cloak.
I either pop retreating maneuvers and run or try a quick dark cloak + ambush + surprise attack + incapacitating strike + killers blade if I can see the NB.

No if you mark someone with piercing mark everyone can see him marked whether friend or foe. Foe can now see him attempting to stealth for 30 seconds and laugh when he tries to run.

Wrong. Only the one casting mark can see you.

If you are marked tough, and use the Clouding swarm (invisible morph of vampire ultimate) EVERYONE can see you.

Alot of times I've been marked when facing groups of people. And I notice only the nightblade who marked me can see me while the others cannot (unless I accidently press C. Swarm). Then its GG no re xD

As a nightblade, in a 1 vs 1 mark isn't a huge issue as you can just pretend your cloak is just a purge and a resistance buff (of course it would be great if you marked them back so the fight is even). However if you're being focused down by a zerg, then the only way to escape from mark is clever use of rocks and elevation, and shadow image.

As a Templar, use purifying ritual.

Since you're a NB, its kinda one of your weaknesses, sadly :(.

Everyone can see you people. When i run mark with my group we can all pile on a nb when i mark them. And there is no real counter but to kill the nb or run and find cover when its about to reset. Piercing mark is a death sentence pretty much, by design

That's obviously from the mark user breaking the cloak , or aoes/det pots :p

I even have a video where My friend marks an NB and while he can see him I cannot.

    Here is the Link: http://youtu.be/WEm_wiVCD5M

It starts at 3 minutes, 21 seconds.

Now you Owe me an apology ;)

We used no aoe, no det pots or I would've been able to see him too.
For me he vanishes while My friend Mister Torture finishes him off with killers blade.

Purge has a morph called efficient purge which is significantly cheaper, but it will still wreck your magicka pool cos you have to cast it twice to remove piercing mark for some reason. You could always stand in a templars purifying ritual and hit your synergy button. Hard to do as a solo player though. Just running up to a templar should promt them to drop a ritual cos they should see you need a purge. There is a small audio cue, a faint ding, whenever there is a synergy to activate, I'm used to it now and just hit 'x' whenever I hear it.

@Master_Kas u got me lol. I suppose for me and others the natural reaction is to stop cloaking. Im happy to know that though cuz that means i can escape a bit easier than i thought

I run purge on my stamblade. I just use magicka potions when im marked and use purge. It's almost mandatory to run Piercing Mark because if you don't another nightblade will. I personally think piercing mark should be limited to 5-8 seconds when detecting invisible enemy's though.

If you use clouding swarm while being affected by Mark, everyone is able to see you.
Most NBs I encounter use mark and continously use light attacks to stop me from cloaking, cause why not?
Mark is the perfect Xv1 ability, but it's kinda needed..
