Armour traits vs Armour styles.

I am rather new to ESO, so forgive me in my lack of knowledge. I'm currently playing with a Redguard DK, 5 heavy armor 2 medium armor. I'm very interested in becoming a crafter and creating armor too, which leads to my question. Is armor styles simply cosmetic or do they account to given bonuses with certain traits too? Like, can i have any trait on any armor style? if someone can add an extensive guide to different armor sets and what they add up to, that would be great? Thanks for reading.

In short, style is all cosmetic and the traits for armor and weapons are different but all 9 traits for weapons exists for all weapons and all 9 traits for armor exists for all armor.

You can have any trait that you know on any armor styles that you have learned. So styles are cosmetics for Crafted Sets. You can find a full list of crafted sets, what is needed to construct them and their bonuses here.

You should be mindful that dropped sets have unique looks, so you may not be able to reproduce them
