[Console] Attribute bars

After the IC patch the way attribute bars worked under the effect of drink buffs was changed, to where they no longer stayed active or showed any indication of regen. It used to be that when under the buff of a drink your attribute bars would remain visible at all times. Food buffs where not changed after imperial city and I inquired as to why drinks where changed and received this response from @ZOS_GinaBruno
Funny story there. This change was actually a bug (a very old one), and it was never intended that health bars be invisible while under the effect of consumables. That said, we've heard your feedback, and will be reverting this change in a future incremental patch.
I was very happy to hear this as it is the only buff effect in game making it a much liked feature for me.

I would like to bring up that this change also hit PC, but PC never had any kind of effect when you used food or drinks. This change caused a lot of PC player to be upset about it. They did not want any kind of indication there was a food/drink buff on and did not want there attribute bars to remain on screen.

So today in the Xbox patch not we received this notice:
Attribute bars will now disappear while a long term food effect is active.
Why change something that worked. While I understand that PC players did not like it console player had been playing with it since launch. I was sad to see this change, but I did go in game however to see how it worked. Under food you bars still grow and remain large, so while they only show up when you are in combat you can still tell that you have an active food buff on. I am also assuming that when the buff ends your bars will glow and shrink indicating they buff is no longer active. This I can live with as I still tell when I have food active and when it ends.

My big problem with this change is with drink buffs. There is now no indication that I have an active food buff on. By allowing the bars to remain on screen at all times it was a buff effect. This was the only buff effect for console since console does not have add-ons. Again why change something that worked? The nice thing about food is that they bars grow, so while they do not stay on the screen you can still tell you have a buff. Where is the drink buff effect. Why is there not active arrows that fill the bars even when full. Even if you added this simple effect I would be able to tell that my drink buff is active, also you could make it to where you bars would glow when the effect ends.

In conclusion I would like to see some love given to drink buffs in two ways:
1) Allow the effect of arrows indicating the bars are being filled with a drink buff.
2) Allow the bars to glow when the effect is activated and ends.

I said the same thing when this was being discussed during the IC PTS. There needs to be something that shows the drink buff when it is activated or ends. Reading some comments recently I thought that it already had persistent arrows, but if it doesn't then that would be a good idea. I also remember there were some people who liked the bars always showing while buffed, so I think they should try to find a way to add that into the options:

    Show attribute bars:
Never > When Buffed > Only in Combat > Always

I thought they did show active arrows filling your bars with a drink buff, but I checked before I posted and it does not. I thought it did at one point but I cannot be certain. It would be nice to have some kind of effect. I forget all the time to check by character screen to see what active buffs I have and if my drink is still there or not. At least when I have food my bars will sink to normal size which is nice. I have eaten food in combat because of that effect. Drinks need some kind of buff effects.

I personally would love the option to always have by attribute bars shown, but I am also someone that would clutter my screen with everything that is possible.

I actually don't want to see the bars unless I'm loosing life, stamina or magics

While your opinion is fine I think the end result is that you, I and others want options of when and how those bars are displayed.

Right now tho, I'm very happy with what we have.
Hope you get your options too

I thought the "always" option already existed.

You have the option of skill bars being always on or not. Why they would not give an OPTION to change attribute bars is beyond me

Indeed. Nothing is worse than running out of provision buff during a fight.
After they removed the visual food feedback from the status bars,
this happened to me so often that I now run a countdown app on my smartphone.

But why do I have to leave the game to receive a food notification?
Why kill a visual feature that was not only useful but needed?

Please bring back the former visual feedback of provision effects.
If some guys want it to be optional, so be it.

I second this. It should be an option. I don't care how others view their buffs but I really like to know when mine are running out or gone completely. I prefer food buffs to potions since I am apparently incapable of applying a potion in a timely manner or else my Xbox lags in the application because I usually die before the potion kicks in. The whole giant bar is a bit intrusive but I guess inventing a new icon is more trouble than Zos believes it is worth. I liked the little inconspicuous diminishing circle in Oblivion myself. Still, I will always vote for MORE OPTIONS!!! Toggles are my friends.

Heh, you're right. It's just the skill bar that you can do right now :)

No update, my guess is that it will not change. They are supposed to be working on combat text and buff timers, so maybe they are going to hold out in tell that is in place. There's no ETA on the combat text or buff timers though, so who knows how long that could be.
