Are any of you title holders on PS4? As I said I've not seen one and I'm on for hours every day. Surely there's one somewhere!

Good luck! I really love fishing in this game -- started pushing for the achievement when I started playing back in June and now I have only a couple of Pact areas to complete before I get it!

I noticed you mentioned dreading IC, maybe this can help. I actually found fishing in the Imperial City much less difficult/scary than I imagined it would be. I knocked out the achievement over about 4-5 non-consecutive hours, circling the districts one by one.

As a tank with high resist/sustain and very low damage output I'm useless on my own in PvP, so my goal was to fish and not get noticed by enemy players. I avoided fishing spots that had mobs guarding them (to avoid fighting and drawing attention to myself). I also didn't open any chests or kill any other (non-fishing) mobs to make sure I had no TV stones on me in case I did get killed, but in the end I didn't even need to worry: staying down by the water is relatively safe. You can almost always find a bit of land (or a dead body floating on some wood debris...) to fish from. Most of these spots you can only swim to get to, and you're difficult to spot: as long as you keep an eye on nearby approaches, you will almost always see other players before they see you, and even if they do spot you, you can get away with invisibility potions (I'm a NB but I don't bother with Cloak in water since you can't reapply it while swimming so I don't even know, maybe hopping into water breaks you out of Cloak?)

To sneak up on you, someone would have to be stealthing along the ramparts without aggroing the patrolling mobs, and then they'd have to pop an invisibility potion (or Cloak, if possible) before diving in to swim up to you. And you would still hear the splash from that, I am assuming. I watched lots of folks from enemy alliances go right by me but was only spotted twice that I am aware of (both times I just popped a potion that gives me invisibility for 15 seconds and major expedition for 30 seconds and swam away to hide in another corner

) So if you want to avoid PvP and still get the achievement without getting a group together to watch each other's backs, it's totally gettable. Just don't fish from the ramparts.

I believe the fishing system designers had other features in mind that never went live. I can't remember the sources and tbh I don't want to spend the time to look for them. Secondary bait was going to give better odds than regular bait, you were going to be able to acquire better fishing poles etc. At some point they decided to "cut bait" and just go with what they had.

I'm on PS4 and getting close, but close is relative I guess.

I took a different approach to fishing the zones in that I focus on water types. I've cleared out all the river and lake fish. I need three more foul and six ocean fish. That's for the rare blues. There's a few greens as well but they're not usually a problem.

I'm having a nightmare with Shadowfen. Eight Toxic Xoach and no Coelacanth. I'm leaving this one until last.

Thank you very much, this is great advice here. I am a Master Angler and I started fishing in the IC districts, but did not realize I was too close to a questing area. It id not take very long before I was attacked and killed on the spot while not even fighting back. I will use invisibility potions and stay stealthy as much as possible, unless I find a large fishing party including all Alliance. Now that would be fun. Again, thank you for the great advice.

Hmm, sounds like a guild Drunken Fishing event might be in order to help you with that last push towards the title...

I'm going for this as well....probably about 2/3rds the way there. I've been playing on PS4 since launch and I have only seen one person with the Master Angler title (I'm DC). Definitely an ultra-rare title!

It's my pleasure! And that's a great idea - maybe we could pitch a Sirens cross-alliance run into IC for fishing in case anyone else is interested in the achievement.

The last event got me within 1 green fish of Malabal Tor and I got it the next day.

Since Master Angler is the rarest title in game, it's the only one my toon uses.

But I still hate fishing as hell. All that swamp Malabal Tor, river Riften and swamp Alik'R runs are in my memories.
It was in Feb but I remember it as it if was yesterday.

Do you need to fish each water type to get the rare fish (I.e. foes rare fish A only drop in foul water? Or can it drop it anybwater type).

Sorry, confused by the 3x12 thing (is that supposed to be 12/3?)

So each area has 12 rare fish max?

I.e., if there's only 2 water types, then there's 6 rare fish in each?
If there's 3 water types there's 4 rare fish each?
If there's all 4 water types there's 3 srare fish each?

After many weeks of listening to my guildies tell me how crazy I am I finally got the MA title on 10/18. I'm on XBox NA and have never seen the title (except on pc transfers). I've never been more proud of a cheevo!
