This is just my own opinion, but I would love to be able to build my own house once again in an Elder Scrolls game. That was the highlight of Skyrim for me, being able to construct, design, decorate, and inhabit my very own home. Personally, I think ESO could be even better because now, you would have to incorporate some kind of defense for your home since you could have thieves running around stealing from your house. The only problem with that is that there are MILLIONS of players on ESO so there is no way that everyone could have a "house" or manor in ESO...there is not enough land for the taking, I do not believe.

But that would be amazing.

I see two ways they can do it. 1) Just expand the normal zones and use phasing. 2) Give us own individual realm to mess around. They both have own benefits, and own ways to add content, totally different kind of, I kind of hope they go with the first one, Id love to show my Castle to the noobs.

Hi welcome. Housing has been brought up and they will consider it. You are probably looking at more than a year or two wait until you hear about housing in ESO. Which is just fine, better to have dark brotherhood, thieves guild and (hopefully) spellcrafting and second part of justice system first.
  • AssassinTheMage
Oh, I agree Qyrk, the Thieves Guild was my second favorite part of Skyrim. I liked the DB but the Thieves Guild was better by far in ways of storyline and in ways of usefulness.

But, and stay with me on this, imagine that you build your manor and you deck it out with armor stands and weapon cases and different decorations all over the place. Now, in my house, I had decorations like soul gems sitting in particular places and bottles of health on shelves, I mean, the drag and drop attribute of Skyrim allowed for just a ton of customization when it came to decorating my house.

Now, with open world thieves and assassins, you have no choice but to protect your home. you are given the ability to put up a fence, maybe buy some animals as protection and then booby trap some key points in the home. If all else fails, you are able to hire some NPCs to take care of your home, like a house carl, and at the same time they protect it.

All of which could have a range of animals, fences, traps, and carls to choose from. Ultimately I feel like it is an area that could really by taken advantage of if the right time and resources was put into it. It is definitely a DLC I would purchase even if the DLC was JUST the ability to buy a home.

Maybe in some way insure the home or just figure out a way to reimburse the people who got robbed or just leave it their own discretion to get some valuables stole or make the home "unrobbable" once they buy a certain thing or reach a certain level.

Because they were promised first than housing. DB and thieves is set for release for Q1 and Q2 of 2016. After that, who knows.

Add 10 house spot to each zone, thats 180, then I'd imagine some people would love to live in Outlaw Dens like 5 guys per den. Id definitely consider to live in Den, if it was cool. Why not some apartments like 5-10 guy per one.

Btw, everyone expect them to give us own individual realms, so I think just put them to the normal zones would be better PR.

Like a boat guy that will take you to vilige that is "your realm" difretn for evryone

I personaly would love some player cities or just locations in which player can build his own house.

It would be nice if they extanded zones with huge places in which land can be claimed for construction of castles that can be souranded by player viliges but i doubt it will heapen

Alternative could be for example: mournhold can have construction tile that is in the same place for evryone but evryone can build his own house there kind of like instancing

Well according to an ESO Streamer, houses are one of their long term goals.

Personally i think they should allow us house in major cities, instead of us building them they just have already built houses and then players can buy them and customise the inside of the house. Of course they should have houses in weird place and that they cost more.

There is no problem with limited amount of construction lots for housing. They could sell or auction construction lots in the crown store, so even though not everyone could have a house, at least the rich could.
And the poor could be provided with discount on tents or sleeping bags from the crown store.

It is most likely that housing will be solo instances. You go in there, a million people go in there, you are all by yourself.

They might consider a number of other ideas, including pocket oblivion realms, but I am going to guess that each idea they consider comes back to solo instances. Since they will consider the house to be a player resource, not a character resource, it will be available to all characters in all Alliances. For this reason, an oblivion plane will be the likely place for a house and the player will be able to fast travel to it, either via wayshrine or directly via some other option.

If they do "housing with friends", it will be more likely that it is guild housing that is instanced to people in the same guild, either fixed in a zone somewhere or in some oblivion plane.

Whatever they do with housing will have to involve the Crown Store for some, if not all, of the implementation. Everything from buying the house with Crowns to decorating it with Crowns. If I had to guess, they will maximize the Crown Store with this one, making none of it available otherwise.

My preference is that they come up with in-game reasons for housing and do not make it like the mail system where it is just there. I would prefer a "housing zone" separate from all existing zones with a combination of interior and exterior locations, like Eyevea. Solo instance with NPC support is a reasonable concession. I would be OK with access by all of my characters, asking only that each character do something in-game to unlock the ability to go there. What would be ideal is a simple quest and the need to take the housing access by force from NPCs, after which the character can freely travel there.

I know there is no possibility that the Crown Store will not be involved. I would prefer that the base house not be sold for Crowns and that the Crown Store be used for customization and not functional additions, particularly if fast travel is allowed as this could be misused in game play.

yea. Crown store with ability to buy houses wouldent be ok in f2p not to mention in B2P.

Alternative way to get ferniture? - Ok but house alone? No, no no no! I want to have house in Davons watch or mournhold as a standard player that already spend alot of cash on game by buying it!

I agree. While I understand the idea of separate realms, I really like the idea of the house just being somewhere in Tamriel. As a versed thief myself, I would enjoy the "opportunity" to have to fight my way into a house to steal or to have to defend my own home.

I also feel that if they do bring in housing, the house should be able to earned in game and then use the Crown Store, but it is almost guaranteed that the Crown Store will be used for the majority because they are a corporation and need a way to make money outside of straight sales and now a days, DLCs just don't cut it sometimes.

In my own opinion, I would never use this system, and I would actively campaign against it if it gave out rewards that weren't only useful to the housing system.

Own Island sounds actually quite fun, with some awesome scenery and view. Own stable, or own place for your boat etc. And of course the pets.

I do like the way you think...I do not know why but I am truly interested in how the "open world" with active players running around would do that. Would the island be specifically for your access alone or would we allow the chance of thieves? You got to think, you could easily purchase a master lock for a door which only gives what, 5 seconds to roll all 5 tumblers?

Usually MMORPG do it like this, its only accessible by you, and then the owner can give access to friends and such.

That would fit into the idea of the game since it is trying to center around group activities.
