Let's be honest, the only time BoP became mandatory was when the content that dropped them was paid DLC. This is just ZOS' way of trying to force players to purchase the DLC by restricting items behind BoP grindwalls. I mean if the items were BoE then players could acquire them even with purchasing the DLC. This is strictly a $$$ issue; I wonder how long it will be before "Zo$" becomes a thing.

Indeed, BOP and RNG are very bad. For instance, took over 100+ runs for I get the Valkyn Skoria Helmet, even then it was "Sturdy", a totally useless trait. After update I been grouping in order to get the V16 version and I lost the count of how many runs I did, no helmet. And on pledge day I join all pugs possible, that's how desperate I am for a piece of gear.

I know VCOA in and out now, I know even what the mobs are going to say in their banter. I completely mastered that dungeon. Yet, I have to run it in order to get the piece of gear I want. It's not fun and all this RNG is pushing me away from ESO. It's not a matter of how skilled you are, or how much "hard work" you put into running the thing 100 times, the reality is that one can run VCOA for the entirety of his ESO lifetime and never get the Valkyn Skoria, even then with the traits one desires. It's luck.

And for me luck is not fun, even if I was a lucky one, many of my friends don't have the gear they want as well and I feel their frustration. It's a system that benefits people randomly despite their effort. We carried a guild mate for his completion through VCOA and he got helmet on first run...really.

As the poster above said, MUST make all sets BOE, except monster and master. That's the least you can do with this awful system. So I can trade pieces with my friends and sell/buy as well. To make the system even better, add a rare drop to Valkyn Skoria, like a "Lava Heart". Player can have it dropped then craft a BOP armour piece of his choice with that set bonus. Make that with all monsters. Rewards crafting + PVE.

ESO doesn't have the right audience for the grind tactic. You can see that by the amounts of players leaving, giving up on gear, not caring about PVE and moaning in forums and Zone Chat. Remove the grind out of the way, it's boring, tedious, time consuming and not guaranteed. I already gave up on getting the gear I want and am sitting on my good oldie V14 Gold Gear.

    Well said!.

I have made a thread about having a costly in-game way of transferring bound items to other players to partially get around the RNG *** ZOS seem to love inflicting on us, but surprise, surprise, those that can farm all day every day came on and said that would reward 'bad' players who 'didn't work hard enough' to have those items.

RNG is bad, but it seems some people who can invest the massive time necessary to make it moot care nothing but for their narrow minded exclusive advantage.

A token system would be FAR better.

I had a very unusual WGT run two days ago where I got four set pieces. THREE were 'well fitted' and one was Divines traited boots for the Spell Power Cure set my fellow guild member had run, and run, and run, and run the place for over and over and over for. She was NOT happy when it dropped for me, someone with no use for it.

Either RNG should be replaced by tokens, or in-dungeon transfer or something similar should be available with BoP.

Back in the day (in many MMOs), stuff just dropped and was divvied up between the group/raid. Now you have to put up with repeatedly watching 'random' useless traits constantly drop, or the perfect piece for you go to another.

In fact if I was to be asked to make a bet, I'd happily put money down that the randomness is skewed towards useless traits (especially 'well fitted') and that were we to take a properly sampled poll of traited gear drops from sufficient players, we'd be able to statistically prove that it is bias towards useless traits.

Whether this is 'working as secretly intended' or a flaw in the coding, it's *** either way.
