Now Long Launcher Screen

We have had to put up with the long load screens. Now since yesterday a long launcher screen to finally get the play button. ZOS are you realizing that the lack of concern for these issues is destroying your game. Players do not want to wait several minutes to get from one zone to another and they do not want to wait for a long launcher screen to play the game. Your passing the buck on its the players computer, internet connection or add ons is just plain old. The problem has always been on your end and you are no longer fooling anyone. In a nut shell get off you arse's and fix these problems or at least be honest and tell the players you can't.

I've had this issue as well. Open up the Launcher and it takes almost a full minute to get the Play button to pop up. @ZOS seriously needs to overhaul this thing and pretty quickly.

I started getting this problem yesterday too. Been playing this game since pre-launch in 2014 with the same computer and fast connection. Never had the problem of long load screens, and certainly something like this new launcher problem that pops up overnight cannot be due to my computer and connection. Even more true when other players are experiencing the same thing.

For those that don't know (on the PC) you don't have to use the launcher unless you're patching or fixing the client, you can load the game directly from the .exe in the live or liveeu folder and bi-pass the launcher.

Having the same issue. Needed to create a shortcut to eso.exe in order to get to the game at all, yesterday. There was a period of time where it got stuck on "Loading..." and wouldn't progress. Now it just takes an unusually long time to check things over.

A more verbose launcher might help a little in troubleshooting. But for general use, it may not be a bad idea to have a shortcut to the EXE for when this kinda thing happens.

It seems almost like it's a long communications delay? Server that handles this having issues, maybe?

I noticed this for the first time yesterday too. Looks like I won't be using the launcher until the next time I need to patch.

I tend to keep my launcher up all the time, especially handy for the aforementioned Patch Days. Only time I re-launch it is when I reboot my PC.

Not to say this shouldn't be looked at.

Is this just affecting PC NA players? I haven't noticed any change on the PC EU server.

I NEVER use the launcher. Go into the ESO folder , find the executable file, and either pull it out or create a desktop shortcut. I only run the launcher on patch days.

@ZOS_RichLambert so why haven't you guys made a better launcher? This is the only game I play where we never see any type of real updates for the launcher.

This is Clarice from The Elder Scrolls Online Team returning your contact. Thank you for your patience while we follow-up in concern for your slow loading launcher.

This actually isn't a common issue that we hear from our players. If you are having trouble loading the launcher, please consider closing other programs which may cause the launcher to delay in starting up. In addition, make sure that the launcher doesn't need to dodge any security and startup conflicts before starting up:

1. Run the game in Compatibility mode for Windows 7 or 8 (You can do this by right clicking the launcher and selecting "Properties")

2. Disable and remove all add-ons - Move the entire folder out temporarily and you can put it back in later, or your addons back one by one if you suspect a single addon. The folder for this is found: C:\Users\user.name\Documents\Elder Scrolls Online\live <--move the entire Live folder to your desktop. When you launch the game next, it will prompt for a repair

It's the launcher addons haven't even been touched yet.

3. Check your DPI Settings to see if they are matching. Set them to 100% and have them match each other https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2900023

Next, we'll want to run you through connection and whitelisting first to make sure no new updates in security are blocking the game:

4. Make an exception/whitelist to Microsoft Security Essentials and Windows Defender (if they're active), and your anti-virus software. You will want to allow either the ZenimaxOnline folder or the specific files of ESO.exe and the Bethesda.net_Launcher.exe.

Norton Security already does that when I install game.

5. Forward ports in the router to make sure it isn't blocking anything we are trying to send out. If you don't have access to your router you may want to add these ports to Windows Firewall. You may also want to contact your ISP for this step as they can sometimes do this for you if you are unfamiliar.

6. Restart your computer and right click your launcher. Click Run as Administrator and return to where you left off.

I think our next step would be to view your game consultant report. Game Consultant captures technical information that can be vital to troubleshooting hardware issues and generates a report. It is a specialized diagnostic tool designed to identify issues that may affect the play experience in The Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited. Please attach a copy of the Game Consultant report to any technical support request.
Here is how to find and use it:
Click on the golden cog icon in the top right corner of the game launcher.
Under SETTINGS - LAUNCHER, select the ABOUT tab. This tab includes the current launcher version, minimum specifications, and information about Game Consultant.
Click the Game Consultant button beneath the tool description.
A new window will pop up. When it does, click Run Tests. This may take a few minutes.
When the test is complete, a new window will pop up saying "Success!" The report saves itself as a text file called Report.txt in the My Documents folder.
To retrieve the file, click the Open Report Location button on the Game Consultant window, or click Open Report to simply view it.

Nothing in that report about their launcher just my system. The launcher has had issues from the first day of beta. But nope blame it on us.

It's in the \programfiles(x86)\Zenimax\elderscrolls online\game\client or something. Just keep digging in those subfolders.

Have same problem with very long loading times while using Wayshrines or entering game from eso.exe. There must be something related to how server are communicating with accounts to get last position on map, inventory and other kind of information which is needed for client to make your character show up where it should with the right stats and skills.

I have a 100Mbit/s download and 10Mbit/s upload and have noticed that there are times where client seem to identify Internet connection as dropped, but I can still use browser meaning my Internet connection isn't the problem. That make me believe that these long loading times are related to how these internal servers (I suppose that account and zone maps are different servers) can't keep up which might make client resend same data again and that way create a long loading screen.

Any update on the in-game load screens? Switching from zone to zone, logging in/out of characters, etc. Doing any kind of group content is really annoying when you have to spend a long time waiting for your group members to fight loading screens.
