Maybe a good feature to add to the game?

I was just thinking to myself that maybe the option to lock items in the inventory would be good, I think this would be quiet a good idea because if you deconstruct another of items daily and have a few pieces of armor you're wanting to keep you can just lock it and not have to worry about deconstructing it.

Yeh I would think an item lock would be pretty standard these days, particularly when you can decon anything that's in your bank.
Hopefully this is one of those QOL improvements that's supposedly coming.

Definitely a good idea. I decon'ed an item by mistake today. Luckily it wasn't particularly valuable and was something I was going to sell anyways.

For such a (relatively) small quality of life feature, I cannot see an immediate downside. I did wonder if this could increase server-client traffic (therefore increasing latency/lag), but the marking system could be entirely client side. Or it can't be entirely client side. I only have experience with introductory object oriented programming, not databases and megaservers.

Personally I would like to lock and unlock items in my inventory and my bank. That way some items do not come up for decon or vendor sale.

Good idea! Sounds like it wouldnt be too hard to impliment, but Im sure they are hard at work trying to fix all the bugs with this new patch. And probably working on adding stuff they can sell. But I hope we can get this soonish.

@ZOS should just change items so that armor/weapons in the bank do not come up in the deconstruction tab. Then you have to take the item out of the bank if you want to deconstruct it. This would be the easiest fix. If it's in the bank it should be "safe".

True but what is the first thing you do when you have game issues? Turn off addons.
What is the first thing ZOS has you do when there's problems? Turn off addons.
What was one of the biggest problems when IC dropped? Addon mini-map.

I love my addons but I think it may improve game performance if these things were native to the client instead of 3rd party.
Especially since some of it is already in the client and just needs to be turned back on.

That and the fact that we can't count on the addon authors staying in the game and continuing to update them.
We need to push for this QOL stuff to be put ingame before that happens.

For PC, there's an addon (if not even more), "ItemSaver". I'm glad I have it installed! For console.. well, not possible.
This is one of the many features that should come with ALL platforms by default.. *sigh*

FCO Item Saver does this for PC and it's done me a great service. (The number of lost researchables before I installed that...)

Should be time for console players to get the same thing, too.

You honestly think I was trolling? Seriously it isn't that hard to slow your roll long enough to make sure you don't accidently deconstruct an item you need. That's on you, not the game or Zenimax. If a bug triggered to remove your item though that's another story but otherwise not rushing does wonders. After all, patience is a virtue!

If anything I will apologize for my vulgar commentary. It's just I see this type of thread so wearily often it takes all of my willpower not to facepalm and scream "OH MY GAWD NOT THIS AGAIN" out of sheer disbelief.
