Only a matter of time before weapons and armor in the Crown Store

You have nothing to back that theory up at all. Motifs are one thing, uber weapons and armour are another thing. Ultimately, cosmetics are all they are. The only thing remotely questionable (as far as getting an upper hand or helping hand is the XP potions). The horse training affords me no advantage at all other than being left behind everyone else in Cyrodiil on our way to a keep etc.

XP potions for grinding levels, Champ Points, leveling skills, etc

    Tri stat food

    Tri pots

Horse training - gets you back to the fight faster

    Game is already P2W.

You can buy motifs in the crown store, make gear to sell to people(using their mats), then buy the best gear in the game. Looks like P2W, smells like P2W, MUST BE P2W!

    P2W is inevitable, but the more important questions are;

Can you acquire the same or better items in-game without a ridiculously lengthy and difficult grind?

And can you still have fun while keenly aware of the fact that players willing to part with more disposable income can have the same or better character power as you, for zero in-game effort and time invested?

No to both means you should exit, or be continually aggravated.

There are many who will stay if yes to both.

The game's central concept of "PvP in PvP areas and be safe in safe areas" needs to stay the way it is.

I think that's where they really dropped the ball on this glass armor motif mess. People would have accepted it a lot more easily if ZOS hadn't made it so absolutely ridiculously difficult to obtain the full motif in-game.

Everyone's still just speculating. Nothing they've released so far is p2w despite a few posts really really reaching to explain how it is. You want to know what p2w looks like? Hop over to the Archeage forums where you can find threads in which people are theorycrafting the best ways to p2w more than stats and builds. I challenge any of you to find one eso player on any system or server that has had a clear advantage in any aspect of the game due to the actual cash they dropped in the CS. You won't be able to. That is p2w. Making and selling armor styles that you bought on the cs? Please. That is such a stretch it's not even funny.

At first it will be weapons and armor you can already earn in game, provided only for your "convenience," of course.

Then they'll introduce some new cool weapons and armor with crazy low drop rates or that you can only make after a crazy long grind. Or you could just buy them in the Crown Store. Again, these are only provided for your convenience. You COULD still earn them the hard way, if you're willing to grind for a year or two.

Motifs are just the harbinger of where the Crown Store will ultimately go.

I hope so. I want all the best gear.
The only substitute for victory is overkill.

ZOS just needs to incentive subscriptions more (things like the crafting bag will help). Giving people a better reason to sub to the game will get more people to do just that.

The thing is, their model does incentivize people to subscribe - just not at present.

The design of their model makes the subscription become massively more valuable as the game ages. Every new DLC will be another $25 to buy outright. Right now, with only 1 DLC, that's not a big deal. In two years, with another 5-8 DLCs, it's going to make a LOT more sense. "Do you want to pay $15/mo for full access to everything, or pay $0 up-front after buying the base game and then shell out $150-250+ for access to everything? Oh, and if you pay $15/mo, we give you Crowns to spend ANYWAY, plus you get 10% experience and inspiration boosts."

It's kind of an ingenius model, really. It gave them a second change to "launch" the game again, without hurting existing players, and the longer people go without playing or buying the DLCs, the more they're going to find value in the subscription - especially for new players who come to the game and really seem to enjoy the first 500+ hours of free content, which will make them want to subscribe to get access to the newer, current stuff.

At least, in theory, that's how it'll work. We'll see. But the supposed "value" of the subscription only grows over time, hence why people don't think it's ***that*** good right now.

Actually, since they started talking about capping CP, this one exception to the argument fades a bit. Especially if they cap it low in the 300 range and only raise it a few hundred each season.
