Enough negativity

Okay so this has been a while coming.

I'm personally going to put my hand up and say that this game is by far the best game of its kind on the market.

It's time we as a forum acknowledged that.

I say this a player who cant stand shield breaker or the fact that my "killers for hire" post was ended prematurely. It can be found here if you're interested http://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/219996/killers-for-hire .

The game is still awesome and we should say so - to others not playing the game so we can expand the base and to each other so the negative bs can subside for the good of all of us that are into it.

But yea... The forums are a difficult place to be right now.

Some of the people who are the most toxic are the most talented. If they put the same effort into doing something in life as the same effort of documenting and posting the most minute thing with a detailed explanation how it will lead to Armageddon they would be successful at whatever they chose to dedicate the same effort to.

This is an amazing game. That being said, if someone pulls a bonehead move, they should expect to be called out on it, hopefully in a constructive manner. Constructive criticisms can help an already good game become truly epic. Sometimes designers and developers get tunnel vision or have a hard time seeing the big picture. Player feedback (even negative) can help with that.

Does it really matter whether there is a better game or not? Is it really your advice to say that since there is nothing better than manure, we better start liking its taste or starve?

Yes, the game is good, no doubt about it. It still has issues that better be resolved. Unless these are communicated, or better beaten into their heads with a 20 pound sledgehammer until they finally acknowledge them, how could we get rid of them?

To call the forums "toxic" or the climate one of "negativity" is not deserved. The forum behaviour is less one of infighting between players, but more of a sign of discontent with the developers. Once again, we have a bug that allows those who use it to gain significant advantages (not only in a given fight, no also in regards to item gains), once again, it is left there for weeks.

As long as things like those happen, as long as purely grind based item progression is implemented, the developers deserve the harsh criticism. Because the alternative is leaving.

Well said OP, the game is fantastic and I have had a great time playing it.

Every single game (especially online games) experience bugs and lag from time to time. Yes, one or two systems might need tweaking. They're fixing those and any sensible person would agree the game gets better over the months.

To read this forum, you'd think the game was a disaster, which is absolutely crazy.

Many of you have spent 30 dollars on it, have had 300 hours of fun and now find something in the end game to moan about it. Think about how many great hours you have had for the money. Can you get that same value from a trip to a restaurant or a theatre.

I just wish people would grow up and make sensible posts instead of spitting their dummies out and screaming like entitled little three year olds

Toxic because I've played with people who read the forums and they were repeating a troll comment. They didn't even realize it. Toxic because they just wanted to complain but will not stop playing the game. That suggestive mind could have easily adapted a positive thought and productive discussion but it went the other way. On a troll post no less

I think those who have the time to spend posting vitriol on these forums all day long......really have too much time on their hands. Get a job, get a life and get some perspective.

That in-game issue that is causing you to get so angry....get out into the real world and learn a bit of perspective. No matter how many bugs or inbalances you find in the game.....it is just that, a videogame. Start worrying about something in the real world that you could channel positive energy into instead.

There is a lot of negativity, I agree. What gets me is these kids that don't realise how lucky they are to be able to actually talk to the devs, leave comments and suggestions that the actual game creators can actually read! They don't see how awesome that is :D When you grow up gaming in a generation where the game makers were elusive, you wouldn't know who they are, would never dream of being able to even talk to them. It gets taken for granted.

I liked this game right up to when I started Cadwell's Silver and the patch dropped which for me was the decider to stop playing for a while. It has a great story I liked that. It has races from Elder Scrolls and I liked that too.

The toxicity level in forum is to be expected in some cases. Some are not being heard due to pointing out bugs that should have been fixed before the game went live and are still burning beacons/waving flags/flipping tables in frustration on to why they are not fixed.
Some are not being heard due to the threads on nerf this/that/the other because they want their class to be the ultimate in DPS or for whatever reason that they should be entitled to.
Others just like to be toxic just because they can. They possibly have everything the game has to offer and relish in other people's misery.

Most people here are well informed and will give pointers on how you could improve. They are in the forums and in the game. Hat tip to those who helped me when I posted my Enquiries. And yes RNG still hates my character even on the easiest of materials and motifs.

All one has to do is ask maturely and not be whiney about it otherwise the D0uche Goblins will be there to give you some not-so-good advice in forms of "suck it up" or "L2p".

Strange how you think people should not be allowed to critise based on their experience.

These forums probably wouldn't be so Toxic if so many people didn't have a reason to critise!

Whilst it's lovely that you look at the game with rose tinted glasses, you must excuse those that look at the game objectively and can see issues with not just the game, but how the issues are handled.

I agree with the OP but I really wish ZoS could figure out how to alphabetize their bank from A-Z by default instead of Z-A. I know, DIY, what's 10k clicks between friends! Actually I have gotten really good and finding things in reverse alphabetical order, so I have come to see it as a mini-brain game exercise, maybe don't fix it. BTW love the pumpkin head costumes!

A start would be to accept the game (not bugs) as the developers intend instead of trying to change the game into what we think the game should be.

Just because XYZ MMO did something doesn't mean ESO/TU has to.

And @ZOS_RichLambert you guys stick to your guns and stop caving to the forum whiners, but do listen to legit complaints like game breaking bugs.

    edit to correct line breaks

Every game official forum is toxic. That is the way of the internet. I would always advise anyone enjoying their game to stay away from official forums. The negativity seeps into your veins and before you know it, you too are jaded.

No-one is saying there shouldn't be criticism. least of all the OP who mentions a criticism of his own.

It's just a question of saying that constructive criticism is fine, while toxic negativity is not. Perhaps it's the inability of some to see the distinction between the two that is a part of the problem on this forum.

My own view is that it's a great game with few if any significant issues affecting my particular playstyle. I fully understand that some players do have significant issues with the game based on their particular playstyle, especially where PvP is concerned. I'm sure that in time those issues will be addressed, although the nature of PvP is such that there will always be winners and losers and the losers will always be the players that scream the most while being unhelpfully told by the winners to "L2P".

I love ESO, and have also praised it often, but when I looked forward to a new PvP dlc, and only got IC, a grind simulator that is not integrated with Cyr, then I honestly don't know how long I will continue to play the same Cyr map, over and over again, with no new content and no new objectives.

Now I'm just gear grinding in IC in case ESO releases a proper PvP dlc in 2017 or something.

Every time one of those threads that i call "We love immortal president Idi Amin" one thing happens for sure. Its getting more toxic than any thread in 10 km radius. Do you know why? Because if us forum dwellers are generally dissatisfied such threads are like pouring lemon juice on fresh wound.

If the purpose of this and other similar threads is to change the mood of forums they fail every time. If the purpose is to get mods to such a thread with well known warnings about posters being not nice to each other then they succeed every time.

@Erudition: By opening this thread you just created a catalyst for negativity and are reinforcing that the forums are negative.
Why did you not create a thread about something positive you noticed instead?

The forums are not poisonous. People will always be more active and write posts if they are annoyed by something and not when they encounter something beautiful.
At least to me, if I am content I will spend my free time in the game and not come here and rant.
