Future DLC "Housing"?

I would very much like to have a "housing" befitting this fantastic game :)
A Quality of Life improvement, that I can furnish to my own taste.
And not something that can only be achieved at high ranking, but directly at level 1, as a side Quality of Life improvement of the game.

Such a feature will be a considerable effort for ZOS... that's why a DLC.
And I would love to spend the money to buy it.

The building and furnishment can reflect what has been achieved and what importance the player attaches to it, creating a new driver paralel to all others.

I believe that a complementary approach to the different big drivers in the game to extend the building, furnishing and decorating will fit best to the variety of the player base.
The following factors could be used:
  • First more achievement points should enable more possibilities to get a start already at level 1.
  • Money
  • Alliance rank
  • Loyalty in terms of real life time since you started playing

Different aspects of the housing are in a greater amount available, based on the different levels of above mentioned factors.
Aspects like:
  • The size and grandeur
  • The choice of kind of area location
  • The crafting rooms with perhaps added bank space
  • The stables for the mounts
  • Pets walking around in the house
  • A small herbal garden with fresh alchemy reagents
  • An armory with racks for all the beautifull armors used & collected
  • A secret cellar room with all stolen art
  • and many more possibilities for sure :)
Somebody who mainly plays PVE cannot expand the house fully for certain features, somebody who plays mainly PVP cannot expand the house for certain other features. But the expansion potential of the features fits to the level of the factor.

I am absolutely not shouting for it, but I would really love to see it coming one day <3

So what do you think?

They have already said they have plans for housing, just don't expect it any time soon as when they do it they want to do it right.

In regards to as DLC I don't really care either way.

Looks like you forgot an option for "no"

Housing would add more stupid micro transactions I'm sure, and it would encourage AFKing, which I promise you, we need no more of.

    Dear @Treasure_Goblin,

I took indeed the liberty NOT to add "NO".
Because I believe that this game has been set up to fulfill many desires of many different people and play styles, all playing "together". This is a free society. I believe we should not prescribe what other people do or not do.

So.. what people choose is their freedom, what we ask ZOS to do however, should be something that has broader consensus.
A proper "Housing" feature will take resourses from ZOS, and I for one, attach at the moment more priority to adressing the bugs, get the game stable.

That's why I was interested to know if there are more people that would find it worth real money, enabling more ZOS resources. I guess not as expensive as the IC DLC, but enough to make it attractive for ZOS to start earlier with "Housing".
It is not a project that could suddenly upset the existing game play / mechanics (like IC :o ), It is relatively an independant art/creative project, only costing resources, adding a Quality of Life.

And if somebody does not care? or does not want to spend the money? Fine :)

I think this one should be a base game change, DLC is all well and good but after a while DLC can become a blocker to new players.

As an example to what I mean I will use values I have not researched so please do not pick on minor details.

For the sake of example, our new player will be called Santa_Claws

Santa_Claws wants to play the game, so spends £40 on the B2P model.
IC is usable right away so Santa_Claws is convinced by his awesome guild to get that DLC to join in on guild events there, £20 DLC.
Orsinium is also usable right away and they want that too! Santa_Claws drops another £20
The Thieves Guild and Dark Brotherhood ---- oooo want! Santa_Claws loses another £20 from his bank account.
Housing? HELL YES ---- hold on, another £20 ?

Before Santa_Claws knows it he is £120 down.

Now ESO+ is the easy answer to these woes and in my mind becomes more and more viable the older the game gets and the more DLC is released. That only answers the woes while the subscription is active of course and that is one thing I still feel needs to be addressed. There should be an mechanism in place which says if you are a subscriber for "x" months after the release of a DLC you get to "own" it as a result.

I do not care what so ever
I'd rather a fancy new set and dungeon or a new pvp area or a transmogrification service/costume creation tool than housing to be honest

Too many people are only concerned about raiding and PVP, but for me, everything is important in the game. I would love to get housing, and I'd even pay for it, as well. I think it'd be awesome if it was a dlc.... then people who couldn't care a rat's ass would just miss out on the houses, but for us others, we'd have a ball.
I've been playing Elder Scrolls since Daggerfall and the games just AIN'T complete, without the housing :dizzy:

Just think about it... woodworkers could make furnitures, maybe even combine it with metalworking and clothing for the extra touches. Ohhhh I have some incredible ideas for housing....but it'll probably never happen x)

Still.... I'd love for it to be a dlc :) (know for a fact that I have quite a few other ESO player friends who'd get it too)

SWTOR has a pretty sweet housing system. I'd like to see something roughly like that. Here's my thoughts:
    • Houses can be purchased/expanded with gold or premium currency.
    • Lots of basic gold-based furniture, and also some premium options.
    • Craftsmen can create furniture based on their specialty, with various motifs as well.
    • Personal housing and guild halls.
    • Housing can be set to public or private access.
    • Unlike SWTOR, preferably not many conveniences, as this could lead to empty towns.
    • Also unlike SWTOR, access from the world would be nice. Some kind of phased part of town, maybe. Much better than the "shuttle me to my house from this nondescript panel" option. As this may conflict with public/private access and figuring out which home to phase to, there could be a signpost out front that allows selection. Maybe the slightest bit immersion-breaking, but such convenience would outweigh the negatives.

Addendum: I selected "as DLC" to refer to housing options. The base system ought to be free so more people can get into it, and then the premium stuff will be available.
