Console update download speed
Really?! Nearly 20gb update?! I'm running at around 74 Mbps, I'm 14gb in and still 7 hrs from completion!

✭It's not a 20gb update, what you are seeing is all the previous updates memory. The new update is a little more then 5+ gigs I think.0 -

The update is actually only 5GB. When you start your download, it'll say it's downloading a total of 19GB. However, once you start, it should jump up to 14GB pretty quickly, then download the new 5GB patch.

It's sony. And Yes they ARE THAT POOR! We all really need to let sony know that they need to step it up already. I would opine that it may have to do with the fact that the entire galaxy is also trying to download it at the same time

74Mbps (Bits per second) would be around 9 MB/s (MBytes per second. This is your ACTUAL download speed at that rate.)
This would result in about 33GB/h. Which would mean you'd complete the download in about 45 minutes or something.
Clearly you are not 'running' at 74Mbps.
If you're talking about the speed your cable company or ISP tells you, this really doesn't have any bearing on reality.
Do some tests on speedtest.net and demand they lower your rates if the speeds on the test aren't close to what you pay for. (I've done this a few times with success.)
Also, not every bit of the route between ZOS and you is under their control. There is literally NO WAY to tell exactly what the problem is without tons of additional information.
TL;DR, don't be so quick to blame any one factor for your realized internet speeds.
Edit: Just to echo what others have said. I don't have these problems on PC patch days. I've got a 100Mbps connection and can typically download 20GB or so in under an hour.Edited by cjthibs on September 16, 2015 3:48PM0 -

I say it's them with confidence because it's happened to me many times now. Just like many companies they refuse to provide customer support or accept responsibility. Once I hardwired my router in to my PS4 (like I'm moving my machine or something) rather than wireless connect, I've never had an update take more than 10 minutes to download and almost no lag in the game at all.0 -

It's nothing to do with internet. My pc can download at lightning speeds and my ps4 is wired as well. Why not come by and have a cup of coffee with me and I'll show you all about it since you're so interested in my internet speed?1 -
Fenumren✭ESO has always been bad for downloads, I thought when I returned to the game it would have improved but alas its still as bad. I loaded the game on ps4 disc version and it took about 24 hours to update, now this patch is showing 18 hours for 2.5 gb and I'm running on 60 mb cable. Its not my connection its the dl being throttled back by ESO.0

Trust me it's not user error on my end and my connection is pretty solid. I'm still downloading it that should say something at least. Try that, with my bad virgin connection(just virgin) I change my MTU every time i download on ps4, was taking over 7hrs on 50mb connection, changed it and was done in 10min.0 -

Hey! No need to get snarky. I'm just confused at why some folks are getting such horrible download speeds. I never seem to have an issue at all. It was just a thought.
BTW: Coffee sounds good, but would you mind if I brought some scones? I like my coffee black and it gives me a tummy ache if I don't have some carbs at the same time.
