Does everyone have long fingers ?

Urnbak
Urnbak
I'm finding it difficult to click on 1-5 and keep moving at the same time,
how does everyone cope with that?

maybe it's my age and i'm just a bit slow at reacting (55) :(
i tried remapping 1 and 2 to Q and E but that confused me.

I do have ESO on my PS4 and prefer the controller but i find i can't turn character around fast enough like i can with a mouse,
what i really need is 3 foot pedals to map to 3,4,5, (dreams)

I'm part of the over-40 crowd myself, and I have stubby fingers, so I feel ya.

I have a Logitech G500 mouse with 3 thumb buttons, 2 buttons on the left edge of the left mouse button, and a scroll button.

I use 1-3 for things I won't be spamming and bind 4-5 to my mouse. That way I can move and groove without breaking stride.

    Hope that helps, Bud!

    :)

I have long fingers, but I had the same problem. Finally, I bit the bullet and purchased a nice gaming mouse with lots of programmable buttons on the side. Can't live without it, now!

Personally I always find it's easiest for me to use the 1-2-3 keys while I'm also using the WASD to move around, so that's where I slot my most commonly-used skills. The 4 key isn't that bad, but the 5 key is somewhat hard for me to hit sometimes, so if I have a toggle or something that's mostly slotted for a passive benefit, or just a skill that I don't use very often, it gets put on the 5 slot.

Also, I remapped my ultimate to one of the extra buttons on my mouse, because I was constantly accidentally hitting the R when I meant to hit E to interact with something... Plus it's way easier for me to use my thumb to click that mouse button when I need my ultimate than it was for me to use my already-overworked left hand.

i agree its hard in the heat of battle to reach the 4 and 5 keys.

i was looking into a gaming mouse also , but sadly i dont play eso after this last patch. but i remember the " tribulations ".

gaming mouse might be the best option since everything is on one hand. and you can hotkey what few abilities are left on the numbers.

I use the deathadder and have for years because of the one side button i can reach, if only there was 2-3 more spaced out from top to bottom of mouse and i'd be ok.

    No mouse clicking on skills.

I have no idea why this game uses the carpal tunnel system. They made it twice as bad by adding a bar swap feature :(

You could try looking into other mice. Naga Hex has 6 side buttons, seems perfect for ESO and it would be easier to control. Or maybe try another company? I use Logitech G600, the button profile feels a bit different from Razer Naga. You just need to find one you're comfortable with. It takes some time to get used to, but after a while the movement becomes completely natural and you start wondering how you ever managed with only a keyboard. ;)

I had something like this when I used to computer game (XBOX nowadays) but I know the feeling.

That's not what I have but it's the updated version. I found i only needed the keyboard to type in chat after i got that. I also had a more basic gaming mouse with your standard 3 buttons and a few buttons on the side. Worked out really well once you get used to it. And you DO have to get used to it.

i tried that one but the buttons are too small my thumbs touched two at once, just couldn't get on with it, all i need is 3 buttons on left side.

Believe it or not.. but for the movement I'm still using the CURSOR keys like I used to when I played Morrowind about a century ago.. The skills are on 1-5, though^^
It's not a picnic, but I do have long fingers, and I used to be a pianist for decades, maybe that's why I can hit the right buttons "blind" pretty fast :) However moving AND using skills at the same time doesn't work, unless I put the mouse to the side and use both hands on the keyboard. It's a pain, but I don't do that too often :)
But, being in the earliest 40s, I notice that I'm getting a touch slower now ;)

Honestly, when I bought this game I could not get used to aiming, moving and executing skills all at once. I decided right then that I'd buy a Logitech G600 and it's seriously a decision I'm more than glad I made.

It can take a little bit of getting used to, but after a few days of use it's no problem. I also don't use all the side buttons, I use 6/12 of the side buttons, 5 skills and 1 weapon switch. It's really fun to use lol.

I'd seriously recommend the Logitech G600 to those that find their current input method uncomfortable.

Nop, it's not your age, it's just designed for mutated hands with more then 5 fingers on each hand;)

Like others said, using 4 and 5 is tricky in the heat of battle, so what I try to do is map those keys for long terms buffs for example inner light.

Not to start up an old war, but Logitech for me has always been more reliable lol.

But in this case, it really depends on your hand. I rarely miss-click and I only use the fore-keys(G9-14), it's really comfortable for me.

Actually, it works pretty well^^ I also refuse to play games where I can't use (or reassign) the cursor buttons for movement. I can't play using WASD for 10 seconds, really, and it's an enigma to me how anyone else can lol

Btw, did I mention already that I have one of these wide ergonomic keyboards? ;)
