Best gear setup for Magicka PvE DPS builds in 2.1?

    Hopefully the Kagrenac's Hope set will get fixed soon, until then I will use this pve setup:

    4x Martial Knowledge v14 gold
    3x Willpower jewelry v16 (2x arcane and 1x healthy)
    1x Molag Kena v16 (medium reinforced)
    3-4x Torugs Pact v16 gold (light chest, fire staff and DW swords for execute/overload bar)

    I get 2585 SD on my destro bar and 3080 SD on my DW bar, without SD from mundus or jewelry enchants. With SD from mundus and 1-2x SD enchants I think I will get close to 3k SD on the destro bar and 3.5k SD on the DW overload bar.

    Here's a nice little build that I'm working on.

    Please don't spread too much ;)

    Apprentice mundus

    3 will power (neck and DW)
    2 cyro rings
    1 moleg
    4 overwhelming
    2 torugs (possible to do 1 heavy 1 med?)

    Doesn't use any 5 piece bonusea.but tons of spell power.

    Then going full magicka glyphs for armor pieces and magicka recovery for jewelry.

    I'd say do 1H/1M. 6% stat bonus from Undaunted passive.

    I really dislike that overall lack of viable choices when it comes to gear. Obvious best in slot jewelry, too many noncompetitive armor set bonuses, and the lack of unquantifiable utility type options are pushing us towards a cookie-cutter archetype.

    Making v16 jewel enchants extremely strong and then making willpower both the only v16 jewel set AND giving its set bonuses a 50% boost (180 SpDmg instead of standard 120), makes it the only set viable and thus completely killing diversity.

    Everything has to rotate around wearing 3 willpower jewels. Everything.

    The problem is that actually adding stuff takes dev resources, but nerfing one set only takes a moment of dev time and a patch note. All you can possibly accomplish by complaining is to get this one set nerfed, and that's not going to help magicka builds at all.

    Ah wow, thanks...It is better than my current vr14 martial knowledge then. So I only have to farm ~600 ingots/fabrics. And to do the fighter's guild questline.
    But I see this a short-term solution, first choice would be scathing mage. Which will also require endless farming, so Kagrenac will probably become a long-term solution.

    CAn someone post a picture of the set bonus structure please? All I can find is one giving resurrection bens....

    I can find only pictures of the pre-2.1 version too. And a mention in the patch notes, in case you don't trust the OP.
    Kagrenac's at v16 provides 224 spell damage, torugs at v16 provides 129 spell damage, but that is not the main reason you want them, the main reason is that v16 weapons are 200+ damage more than v14 and v16 armor offers 200-300 more magicka per piece, so it is a SIGNIFICANT increase. My advice for sorc PvE is for you to run 5 piece Scathing mage, 2 piece Molag kena, 3 piece willpower, 1 v16 nirnhoned staff and 1 nirnhoned Greatsword (it should now outdo dual wield). You should also go vampire. Now assuming you are an Altmer you should have 9% racial, 10% vampire, 20% potion, 25% CP, and 28% light armor bonus to your regen, giving you a 92% bonus to regen. Change your ring enchants accordingly to manage the increased costs that are created due to Molag Kena procs. 2 piece Molag KENA provides 516 + 129=645 Total extra spell damage, even if you have to enchant all of your rings with regen (yes you want regen rather than reduce cost, because at 92% boost to regen it wins out over reduce cost) it is still better than having 3 jewelry 174 spell damage enchants or 522 spell damage. As a sorc weaving force pulse I have found that you can upkeep Molag Kena proc nearly 100% of the time... now happy hunting for the sets that have like a 2% drop chance...I cleared vet tower 5 times and had to set items drop...from trash....

    As a placeholder for those crazy hard to find sets I would run 5 Kagrenac's 1 Molag Kena 2 Torug's with willpower jewelry. If Kena isn't an option run 3 piece Magnus for the regen and stack spell damage enchants on jewelry.
