I'm on console and after reading about people's frustrating IC experiences, I'm convinced I absolutely don't want to buy this expansion.

I don't really play MMOs for PvP and although it's fun on occasion, just the thought of paying extra cash to be forced to participate in it for the next expansion doesn't make me want to buy this at all.

If I decide to skip this DLC as a PvE player, what do I stand to miss out on / lose?

Do PvE players really need it as well or can we skip it completely and not miss out on too much?

Right now, I'd rather quit the game completely than do forced PvP...

you'll miss out on NIghtblades, Nightblades everywhere.
    Meh...**** it..

PvP is fun and fresh again, good small scale battles and less getting one shotted by some high cp former emperor. If you loathe pvp though, you won't mind missing that. I am a hardcore PVE only guy who has fallen in love with the expansion overall. I can now hold my own in any battle, with practically any enemy, as long as it's not some 20 man zerg.

The gear from the Tel-Var stones doesn't really interest me that much, but they are extremely easy to farm with a small group. I have gotten a full set of Black Rose as well as the Shield Breaker in maybe 6 days of playing. I really just got them for the look. Rarely on a quick run do I get ganked and lose stones. The upper districts are very nicely designed and worth a visit to at least complete the main quest.

To me, even as a pve player it's a very nice expansion and well worth the money, or crowns. To each his own though.

So the only way to source the gear post IC release is to either enter the PvP zone and farm it yourself OR buy it from other players?

Urgh, I feel like I just want to cut my losses with this game...

    Can I have your stuff?

You're not going to miss out on much. You'll miss achievements, skyshards, skill points, and some neat rewards (the BoP kind). But there really isn't much in term of frustration in the IC. It's been pretty smooth sailing for me. The biggest issues right now are the queues getting into the IC, the loading screens, crashing and being removed from the IC, and a few minor bugs that can hinder gameplay (there are more bugs that aren't going to cause you to miss much).

The gear isn't really to die for. If you were in trials-ready gear at V14, you can stay in it. The best thing about the gear drops from the vaults and such is selling it. Make that money!

From a storyline perspective, the DLC is fun, try not to get into a group that makes you rush through the dialogue. You can solo most the quests in there though. The arena is the only thing you'll need a group for. The rest I was able to solo, including the boss at the very end.

    OP,

Keep in mind, once Orsinium comes out, the gear you're missing out on now will theoretically be old news. There should be all new stuff to acquire and craft with that update. Again, in theory. Worst case scenario, if there's anything in IC you absolutely need, it's not going anywhere.

Also it was stated that they plan to be done with the VR shortly after Orsinium goes live. It's my understanding champ points will have the impact on what "level" gear you can wear. I maybe wrong on that. They haven't said too much about it yet, other than it's still coming.

I urge you to reconsider quitting the game over one expansion. More PvE content is on its way next, followed by Thieves Guild and Dark Brotherhood. Though this PvP expansion does not cater to players like you, or I, it was needed. There is still a lot of content to look forward to.

You can buy gear so other than BoP/BoE you'll be fine with crafted gear and some drops from dungeons but hopefully the VR16 stuff roles open next seasons or whenever their idea is active.

Honestly, this first couples weeks of the new content I have seen very little actual PvP. It's more like PvE with some PvP on the side. Plus the sewers are an xp motherload. I've been popping through CP ranks.

You wont be able to have fun with your friends or join them when the begin to do more challenging content in the future.

Just why is that, exactly?? Your opinion needs factual documentation. Otherwise, it just sounds like a sado-masochist's taunt.
