Imperial city DLC rant.

I am not happy with this DLC... I need some reassurance and cheering up.

All the enemy NPC's have been standardized which is good i guess but it worked out that they all got a rather significant buff.

Generic PvE gear nerf across the board what the hell!, i lost like 450 spell dmg, not impressed. From what im reading on the forums stam DPS are even unhappier and pvE tanks have more or less given up.

The crafting is terrible... Not only is crafted gear under-powered compared to dropped gear but making a v15 staff costs 12 wood while a v16 costs 120 .. AND deconstructing anything V15-V16 gives ONLY 1 base material. why craft! expensive and not worth while.. /cry

And the biggest one for me is that if you want the better gear you are FORCED to PvP with that equipment sitting behind a paywall (purchase DLC).

In other more neutral news, did anyone find a V15 grind spot for champion points? , cause im starting to suspect V15+ was just a stop gap for CP grinding.

ugh... I might need a break from this game come back in a month or two..

Can't you buy the crafted or looted gear from someone else, with maybe gold or other trade-able goods?

Now if you want one of the 6 sets that requires TV stones, then yes, you'll have to get the DLC or subscribe.

There are 12 new sets that drop in the new dungeons. But, they are bind on pickup. You will not be seeing these sets for sale unless that changes.

I am not happy with the TV stone situation AND I PVP regularly. 80% loss? Really? I really think it should be a 20% loss to counter the massive Zergs running us down. Thanks!

You have to pay for DLC and gear included in it like any other game ever? Shocking!

I do agree that the crafting is rather too much though.

I did purchase the DLC just for the record.

Having access to the DLC gear requires the dlc is a no-brainer, i get it..

but the point is that the strength difference between the "normal" gear and the "DLC" gear is like 33% THAT IS VERY SIGNIFICANT.. So much so that remaining competitive requires the DLC.

Really is not fair for those players that mainly PvE and maybe did not buy the DLC.

Let me ask you, would you run a PUG pledge with a player who did not have any DLC gear? knowing that are at least 1/3 weaker than you?

if it makes it more of a challenge then why not? No reason to discriminate against people who dont have the DLC unless you are one of the elitist......

Time will tell on that one... at the moment it looks like it.. but we haven't all replaced our old world gear yet.

Prior to patch my guild groups ran over any Vet pledge, VDSA, VCoA rather easily.

Now we can't complete certain vet pledges, we just don't have the numbers.

VR16 is what VR14 was like last week before the nerfs...

Pve and crafting got screwed with this patch with so many nerfs across the board, not to mention trials are now pointless. So many nerfs to so many things at once, really sucks.

The bold is untrue. If you want the best gear you are FORCED to PvE. The TV stone gear sucks for the most part.

Interesting perspective, can to share what you mean by this because aside from the willpower/agility/ endurance set the imperial city sets are like i mentioned earlier about 33% better then the crafted and old world sets.

I know i started this post with a rant ad didn't provide any examples but i did provide one just above and if you are going to say the opposite at least provide one example to back up your claim.

are we both experiencing the grass is always greener symptom?

I will try to cheer you up, but I'm a bit lost.

Folks who do not own the DLC will be able to aquire the willpower etc. sets from non-DLC dungeons. (although from what I read I think you already know that)

Any of the sets that can be purchased by Tel Var stones can be sold (just like the old PvP sets). Now, I don't think these will be available immediately on the market, but I imagine they will make their way there in a few weeks. Once that happens, that will most definitely be an avenue for "better" gear from the DLC - for folks that don't have the DLC.

Now, if you DO have the DLC, you will also be able to do the 2 new dungeons (4 if you count normal and vet as 2) that will allow you to aquire even more new gear. These sets though are restricted to players WITH the DLC, but does not require any PvP. Remember, once you find a dungeon, you can port to it from ANY wayshrine.. you don't actually have to head to IC and get to the door every time.

New gear is actually MORE available to a PvE'r. Of course, in the list below I'm stating it as a PvP ONLY PvP's and and PvE'r ONLY PvE's. Some people ARE like that, but many are not, and are willing to do both types of content.

    So..
No DLC player - PvE'r = Does dungeons runs for willpower/agility/endurance, and can purchase sets that are bought with TV stones from other players via guild store or direct player purchase/trading.

No DLC player - PvP'r = Can buy TV stone gear from guild stores or other players.

DLC Player - PvE'r = Does dungeons for willpower/agility/endurance, and can purchase sets that are bought with TV stones from other players via guild store or direct player purchase/trading. Can also run the new dungeons for the new sets.

DLC Player - PvP'r = Can PvP for TV stones and buy new sets for Tel Var stones.

So, you don't HAVE to PvP. Although you do have MORE options with the DLC, you surely do still have options without it.

[EDIT] Oh, and about crafting.. sorry  Can't really help cheer you up there. It's brutal. There is a small chance of getting the mats from hirelings too? And maybe TV stones will become less valuable so the people will buy mats and sell them for a reasonable price.. eventually?

Most of the concerns voiced here is what we voiced during PTS, but you see where that got the DLC....

It went from a 100% loss rate to 80% on TV Stones, very little changes for pvp/pve experience and the crafting went unchanged before hitting live.

If ZOS doesn't get a good response from this DLC hopefully they will realize that it had little content to warrant a $25.00 price tag and ramp up the next ones.

Oh, and another thing to cheer you up about gear...

Monster helm and shoulders now go to VR16.

Monster shoulders can now drop from the Silver pledge chest (although will be a lower quality - that can be upgraded via crafting, and there is a much lower chance)

Old in dungeon drop sets (ex. Ebony or Adroitness) now drop as VR14 ;)

I agree with the OP - imperial city had so much promise but has failed.

The worst part is we need groups of 20+ to do the major bosses or follow the story arc and that's just assuming that we don't get ganged by a gank squad while trying to do the quest at which point lose all stones and go back to base.

While the gank squads are annoying at least we have enough people on to find a group. When the hard core PvPers have their gear and go back to cyrodil getting a group will be near impossible the place will become a ghost town. It will be impossible to get groups together and anyone without the gear will struggle like hell to get it, just like craghorn is now.

Except for alot of the sets are all RNG Telvar stone containers and a lot of the sets are bind on pickup in IC dungeons...oh and the crafting sets use insane grind amount of mats...

    Goodluck buying those.
