So the price of Treasure Maps is going to sky rocket...

I'd been saving my Treasure Maps for a while. You know, the ones that lead you to sometimes decent but all-too-often vendor trash laden containers that are next to impossible to spot except in the icy fields of Eastmarch. Those treasure maps. You can get Malachite Shards in those chests as well. I had 35 maps saved up so I decided to run them all and see what I got. I couldn't find the chest for the Craglorn V map but the other 34 I did find and scored 21 shards. That's a phenomenal 61.8% drop rate. Say I got lucky and it's only a 50% rate, that still means those maps are a 50-50 chance at scoring a shard. Twenty maps will probably be enough to get you a piece of glass crafting material.

Sure, in time the prices on the mats and thus the maps will settle down. But in the current frenzy to acquire enough malachite to craft sets of glass armor this is going to be a seller's market for maps... Have fun storming the kiosks!

So what are the shards going for on the stores in pc? And the treasure maps? Which would be smarter to sell?

I don't think so, considering the treasure maps themselves have a fairly low drop rate.

You've just figured this out? Most trade merchants figured this out the day it was posted in patch notes months ago. GG letting the lazy mass populace know. :/

Had 5 treasure maps. Got 3 malachite shards.

Also saved my crafting writ clothier bag that I got the night before the patch and got a fragment of glass armour motif.

Oh yeah, this is going to be an expensive and time consuming hobby. Or I could just wait a few months until ZOS puts the damn motif in the store for 5000 crowns.

Don't, it's says clearly in the 2.1.4 patch notes that those do not give shards.

Decided to open the 3 t-chests I came upon while riding in cyrodiil. Out of the 3 chests in 1 of them was a malachite shard and the other one had a v14 martial knowledge pants. Pretty good loot if you ask me.

In Craglorn I experience so far a drop rate of approx 20% on Random Treasure Chests
6 shards in aprox 30 chests.

20% is pretty good. Someone was telling me the rate was adjusted by chest difficulty. So Master chests would be more likely to have it than Simple chests. But given half of the chests you find are Simple they'll dominate the distribution. The nice things is treasure chests are everywhere. And even if the drop rate is 10% that's still going to yield multiple shards a day without much effort. Unlike Dwemer scrap which forces you to farm Dwemer ruins to find it.

To be fair, the players themselves do a good job in making the devs minds up on that front. Always, always a few "OMFG, THIS NEEDS NERFED!!!one1!!1" threads kicking around. Whether it be grinding, skills, attributes and so on. Nothing slips under the radar from those that blame everyone other than themselves for not being as good as the next person.

It will come to a point where playing the game becomes a chore and every skill will be a former shadow of itself. It's already happened more times than I've had hot dinners.

This is what they said, and the three CE treasure maps that I had tucked away from April 2014 did not result in any, so I believe them.

I would not recommend that they put it in the Crown Store for a mere 5000 Crowns. Given the effort required for Glass compared to Dwemer, it would seem silly to have them even close to the same price.

I have to think that there is a limit to how much is someone going to pay for an all inclusive Motif. I sense reluctance, even if it saves them a couple years of work. I would charge no less than $200 (25000 Crowns), but I am going to guess that they will not do that.

Recipe Fragments? Or Glass Motif page fragments? That sounds about right for Psijic Ambrosia fragments from Provisioning writs, but way off for Glass Motif page fragments from Blacksmith/Clothier/Woodworking writs. I think I have done 9 Blacksmith/Clothier/Woodworking since Imperial dropped and got 3 Glass Motif page fragments. Which is the same as the 3 Psijic Ambrosia recipe fragments I have found over the last 10 weeks. Maybe I just got really, really lucky with Glass Motif fragments? But I think it makes sense as you only need 7 pieces to get the full Psijic Ambrosia, whereas you need 150 pieces, at the least, to learn all the glass motifs. The glass fragments better drop at a decent rate!

    Couple of things:

All treasure chest loot is scaled to the level of the area, except Cyrodiil, where it's scaled to the level of the player I believe.

    CE maps give no shards.

All in all, I'd actually say the treasure map shard drop rate was given a nerf; I was keeping track of numbers for a long time on the PTS, and my treasure map chest shard drop rate was over 90%. So even if it's at 60%, while that seems huge, that's a big drop from my experience before.
