Continuity Mess

I didn't realise that you could mess the order of events.

Just as I was admiring that in spite of the countless times I'd done quests and locations/regions in a less linear fashion, the storyline has always held true, I finish the northern area of Auridon having already completed all of Grahtwood and the Queen starts going on about trouble in Elden Root ("Yes, your majesty, we were just there, your brother turned into a big fatty and then died") and then her brother runs up (in original form) and they have a chat. Only an hour ago, we were starting off in Greenshade and she was complaining that someone had betrayed us and her brother's body was lost. ("No worries your loveliness, he's standing behind you now")...

Shame.

It does lead to some weird sightings ("I see dead people...") but the easiest way to fix it is to, y'know, not skip entire zones. It sounds harsh but I can't imagine ZOS going back to check for that many variables and put in alternate dialogue, etc...
Forever looking for that one avatar that no one else has...

Why did you complete Greenshade before Auridon? There is a linear order to main story for each alliance otherwise how could you organize a story arch?

Yeah, sometimes it's either due to a bug that we can see NPCs that should actually be dead at that time, like on Bal Foyen where you have to choose to defend the Fort or the Docks and you decide to defend the Docks, Aera's son and husband die in the meantime but they show up when you check in the Fort after the quest, next to a mourning Aera.. this was quite disturbing. You don't have to go back to the Fort afterwards, but I did just to see the outcome.

OR it depends on the order we do certain quests.
Where I often saw this was in the Pact storyline, especially in the Rift where they f.e. send me to the Trolhetta to kill Sinmur although he's dead already (happened pretty much with all my characters), and other quests of this line are a bit confusing as well^^ Also the AD quests about Estre, even when she's dead already, she shows up somewhere else again for another quest, really odd. But I got used to it somehow ;)
