Not closing Anchor Pinions does not, I repeat does Not give you a chance at better loot or a better chance of General spawns.
Closing them does give you a 10% damage buff for all participants for 30 seconds plus refills your pools.

Can we please stop perpetuating myths and yelling at people at anchors now?
(sorry, misinformation is a personal peeve)

Thank you for finally clearing this up ZOS

Nice of them to explicitly say it in the stream, but this is far from the first time we've had official confirmation from ZOS that the "don't close the pinions" thing is just a myth. I'm afraid that, just like the other times ZOS has cleared this up, people will continue to believe the myth.

It's very interesting that some people, who have no proof themselves of this particular urban legend, will continue to believe it even after receiving word directly from the game developers that it doesn't exist.

Some folks in guilds get really upset if you close the pinions. I've been chastised for it at least once, with the thread of being kicked from the guild.

Yeh, pretty ridiculous. Now you can point them to the Live episode.

True, just hoping to reach those with more sense or new to the game and don't know better.

It is amazing what myths people will believe despite having no evidence whatsoever. Applies to real life also.

I wonder though, will knowledge of this particular truth lead to more pinion ninjas? You know them, the helpful folks who arrive late to the party and contribute nothing to the fight, but try to activate all the pinions so they can "earn" the achievements.

Well, those have always been here even before the myth was started. I guess "more" is relative in this case.

Ive always been very skeptical of this particular myth. May I suggest that you put something more specific in the topic however "Anchor Pinion Urban Myth" you might get more players to notice if they could see it while scanning topics.

Personally, I never said that it did. HOWEVER, you have more daedra spawns. Killing more daedra raises your FIGHTERS GUILD faction faster AND GIVES YOU XP, even VR14s. So, unless you are tier 10 FG and dont want XP/CP, you want to not put the anchor pinions down until they stop spawning.

I think this rumor started because people didn't want to run over and close them while fighting, but they didn't want to lose out on closing them either, so they made up some nonsense about it spawning a general.

That, or one person did it once and got a general, therefore 80% of the time, it works every time.

I was with some guild members who believed that a few months ago and I kept saying that whole idea was just silly. It is essentially one person who had a single experience telling everyone they figured out something, despite the fact that the data that follows completely invalidates their idea.

Perhaps the last pinion, but the first three pinions don't seem to have any effect on spawning.

The anchor pinion myth reminds me of a myth in Scarlet Blade. In Scarlet Blade in every dungeon was a winged glowy creature near every boss fight. People started a myth that not killing these creatures increased the final boss drop rates on rare and unique items so gods forbid you accidentally shoot one and kill it because you might be ejected from the party. In reality the developers stated many times the glowy creatures were meant to be killed before the boss fight...because killing them gave you a 2 minute health buff. But of course the myth persisted because people chose to believe it.

Only when it's raining you forgot to point out. So there's some luck involved.

However, you can bypass this I have found by leaving the FIRST daedra spawned up until last one spawns. So - much like boss fights for vet mode dungeons - Leave one alive until then end. But remember if raining you don't have to do this. And of course as you mentioned it's Counter-Clockwise for the emote.

Kinda of like how many many years ago some guy with a 3 letters as his in game name would complain to the devs of whatever game it was that mobs would chase him down from an insane aggro range. They would aggro on him even if there was another player closer.

The devs of course said that no the aggro range in the same for all. But one day a guy looked at the code. And sure enough for some reason mobs would aggro on people with that kind of name over others.
