Encase and its morphs are not working as intended.

Maybe it works well for me because I rarely use it at range, I run up to the mob, drop Restraining Prison, pop Liquid Lightning, and spam Elemental Ring two or three times and move on. Even being there in melee range, I rarely ever get hit as I continuously move around the targets while using Elemental Ring.

    It works for you, because you directly target an enemy. For some reason, as soon as you directly target one enemy and use encase, it also works on other enemies in the Area of effect most of the time.

    But this only shows again, how flawed this is and that the area of effect is only a fake basically :D

    Sorry for the delay, had a horrible plegde run.

    Weird. It seems like, as long as I aim at 1 target, the root works as intended.
    But if don't look at the target, but it's still standing in the AoE, nothing happens.
    Many times, it's working as intended. But quite a few times nothing happens, even though the enemies are in the area of effect when I cast it.

    /sigh. During the 1.6 PTS we mentioned this to the devs as a bug during one of the guild chats, and included pictures showing a mob at the edge the animation not getting rooted. Nothing was done.

    The narrow width of the column that actually roots people is one of the biggest things that makes the skill tough to use. The other thing is that it always casts in the direction the character is facing. We've gotten used to this with streak and dawn breaker though. This skill never needed an increase in length, it needed an increase in width.

    On top of that even if the tooltip was right (3x15), Encase still only covers ~1/3rd the area that Talons does. It also does much less damage (or no damage if the snare morph of taken)

    Thanks for fighting the good fight though. Maybe this will get on an official list now

    The increase in lenght wasn't really needed, unless it was meant to enable Encase to be affected by the Range passive in pvp, which is not the case. Be it intended (which would be dissapointing) or a bug.
    The width is what kills this ability. I recognized a tooltip change, saying that it now has a width of 6 meters.

    Though the animation width is the same as ever before and I compared it to the live version, the width didn't change.
    Encase needs a larger width in order to be as reliable as Talons.

    But I can confirm, that Encase is now cast in the direction where you're pointing with your camera.

    I remember the first time I read and used the skill and I was like, "Wait, what." The cast graphic sucks. When/if I see the effect graphic it's relieving, lol.



    Disabling the grass may improve performance.

    @ZOS_GinaBruno Can you tell us, if the 6 meters width of Encase (tooltip) is intended ? Because it was 3 meters until this update. Didn't see it in the patchnotes :)

    Yeah it seems to be a cone like Bombard, instead of a rectangle the way it should be according to the tooltip.

    Shadowrend's "Shadow Proxy" in Banished Cells (Normal) Dungeon is supposed to be CC-able, but it ignores Encase whenever it decides to charge. I made the video weeks ago, but I can confirm this bug still exists as of last week.

    Shadowrend's "Shadow Proxy" in Banished Cells (Normal) Dungeon is supposed to be CC-able, but it ignores Encase whenever it decides to charge. I made the video weeks ago, but I can confirm this bug still exists as of last week.

    He uses a teleport :neutral: so he cannot be rooted. Nighblades for example can still use their teleport cap closer and Sorcerers can still blink.

    NPCs seem to work the same way with their teleports.

    What I think is pretty hilarious is when they continue to move but drag the Encase along with them.

    You know ranged enemies usually stay local. But sometimes they make a running animation to change location.
    If you root them right before they're about to do that or while they're doing it, root will do nothing and they will keep on running with Encase around them.

    Probably because these animations are so heavily scripted, that you cannot interrupt that.

Even though everyone in this thread can confirm, that Encase is flawed and not working as intended. We also represented screenshots. I can't blame them for not being able to reproduce it.     Lets just say it as it is, at this stage its pointless to write threads and make comments because they aren't going to do anything but minor tweaks now before this goes live. Is there any point in even PTS'ing anymore? Unless we find some super crazy bug where we can make people blow up outside of cyrodiil, there's nothing getting done on our findings until 2.4 goes live next year. Unless of course if we start a 1 man petition for a buff on the "class that must not be named." xD

    But on a serious note, what you posted is exactly right, you must have a target selected for the ability to work. In one way its ok because you don't accidentally hurt any NPC's. But then I do also notice that not everything in the cone will get hit, those fringe, both axis, enemies tend to go unaffected.

    When encase does work (usually have to spam it 3 times in a row and this thing isn't cheap), not even half of the mobs in a very small radius get rooted. (usually like 2 mobs for a pack of 6).

    I can confirm this. I think it's more than obvious, that Encase is very buggy and unreliable. Why even wonder nobody is using it ? :)

    Btw, High Kinlady Estre was not right -.- The Veil is a bunch of daedric worshippers and deserve no place on our holy island.

    I've used encase a ton while tanking in pve and casting it two or three times is a necessity because of how buggy the ability is. Something will be standing directly in front of me and won't get rooted. I don't move at all or rotate my camera and cast again and it works. Real buggy ability since day 1.

    Just done testing shattering prison while in IC and the damage doesnt apply when a player roll dodges out of crystals.Is this an intended design for the skill?
