Datamine: Akaviri, Mercenary, Yokudan, Portable Crafting, Wrothgar

I was messing around datamining some things, and found these lovely gems. Apparently we might get to craft in the Akaviri, Mercenary, and Yokudan styles at some point. From what I've seen, these style motifs will have 14 chapters to them just like Dwemer, Xivkyn, and Glass. Apparently the complete motif will also be available in the crown store. I'm still digging around. If I find anything else interesting, I'll post it. Enjoy.

Is anyone else really upset that there will be a crown store glass motif?

Really zeni, you want rare/special racial motifs then you put them in the crown store...

They told us this already; they're waiting a few months so people will get frustrated with the grind and want to buy it people who find it in-game have time to show off.

Honestly I see no issue with this. It's a pick your poison in this case. The game went F2P, with no mandatory subscription. IF you have ever worked in the IT field, or as a software engineer the amount of resources you need to keep servers up and running, and yet produce new and upcoming content for people without asking them to pay a subscription, is very difficult. So either you have them choose to put up items in the crown store that affect gameplay like...buying more skill points or more skill line ability slots, or you can choose to have them put up items that influence character looks. I mean...they gotta make money somehow. And personally, I'd rather not complain so that they continue putting up items that don't create a situation of "Buy to Win", and rather more of a "Pay to look good".

Cosmetic items in the crown store are fine, whatever they need to create and improve content.

The flip side of the coin is that most players will only use a few crafted pieces, if any. All this work for new crafting styles but so little incentive to use them. Especially the head and shoulder motif pages will be useless when everyone will use Molag Kena's, Engine Guardian or Bloodspawn.

It would be nice if there was a way to convert the style of dropped sets, except the monster sets ofc. Otherwise everyone will be running around with roughly the same look. There's absolutely no harm in giving players more options how they look while playing.

Those portable stations look very interesting. I would like to see exactly how they will be placed, or if they will just appear directly in front of you. If the player is able to place it wherever they want (similar to alliance siege equipment) then we may be one step closer to house decoration. At least that's what I'm hoping...

I don't have a problem with any of this stuff being in the crown store.

That being said, I am not surprised that some people don't like it. Zenimax has to make money somehow, which means they have to make things for the crown store that people will buy.

People will buy things that are difficult to obtain, even if those things are only for looks, and looks are the only thing players are willing to see sold for real money. It follows, like a syllogism, that appearance must be difficult to obtain in order for Zenimax to make money.

The unavoidable side-effect is that making something (anything) difficult to obtain in a game, MAKES OBTAINING THAT THING A GAME TOO. So, people who are playing the "appearance game" can legitimately say that it is pay-to-win.

When I first found them I was all "heck yeah! crafting stations for houses", then I noticed it said portable and read the description. Still, they might come in handy.

Portable stations are a neat idea (though most people are going to need set crafting stations majority of the time).

This is why I would prefer subscription based MMOs. It feels pointless to earn something the hard way ingame, if you can get the same or even better stuff for a pocket change in the item shop.

Or... If you are poor like myself, still have the option to get it for free IG.

Doesn't make it less of an accomplishment to me if someone else went the lazy route, and I worked for it.

Somehow in most excited about portable crafting stations because it could pave way to portable set crafting stations.

Portable crafting stations are a terrible TERRIBLE idea. Don't do it ZOS! There's more money to be made than those would bring in!!!!
