Transforming/DRuiD Class

Dylanator30
While having vampire and werewolf form to transform into are fun, am I the only that has fun with transformations? I would love to possibly see a DRUID class, able to be very plant/animal like. Transform into different animals famous to Elder Scrolls. From a snake to a bear to all in between. Thoughts?

Shapeshifting would be a cool class mechanic. I've always thought the next logical step for eso's classes would be some form of Wyrd class with shamanistic bolts, totems etc... Would fit quite in line with this and would be cool, but once again, sounding quite druidic and WoW-esque

Agreed, shaman would be perfect. It would be awesome to shapeshift so easily

In Elder Scrolls, shapeshifting like that is mostly the domain of Hircine and his werebeasts. There's nothing saying you could never have someone who shapeshifts into a lot of different forms. But, it would be... a little bit on the edge of lore unfriendly.

It also gets iffy when you remember that Shapeshifting is a natural ability of the Bosmer, that they suppress. So, if you have a Bosmer shapeshifter, that would be more of an afront to them then, say, a Dunmer or Breton. And, as it stands the game really isn't set up to account for stuff like that.

It can't even tell you're a vampire, resulting in my Breton vampire belting out, "YOU'RE ALL VAMPIRES! HOW COULD I EVER TRUST YOU!?" in a quest recently.

Seriously, the Rivenspire plotline is hilarious if you're a vampire. The Glenumbra plotline is hilarious if you're a werewolf. "No werewolf can resist it's effects!" "You're sure about that?" "Yeah, why?" "No reason."

There was the Warden class in eso. It was druid like class. ZOS removed it during end of alpha. Now try to guess the chances of adding it to ESO...

    Was it added?

My understanding was, there were originally going to be six classes. We know five of them. The four we have and the Warden. They were detailed in beta, but the Warden never actually made it to a live test build. I seem to recall some of the earliest betas didn't even have all four of the final classes.

We'd need a Psijic to confirm that, though.

I never knew this! What was the theme of the class, is there anywhere where preliminary details had been posted?

About the only things we actually know about the wardens was, they were supposed to be the defensive medium armor class. I also vaguely remember that Negate Magic was originally supposed to be one of their powers.

Hmmm I would picture a bosmer Werewolf sorc being build to be shaman/druid-like.

On a theorycraft perspective, shapeshifting would require a stam build to manage... unless a completely new mechanic is made to make it work like WoW's druids.

Transformation could be based off magicka and use of abilities within that transformation could use magicka quite possibly.

I don't know lore well enough to know if a shapeshifting class would make sense or not. I do know the lore is rather unique for a fantasy game—despite the elves :)—it may not make sense as a class focus. This is a great summary and makes me want to play Morrowind again. I get all nostalgic running between the mushrooms in EP.

I started playing ESO near the end of beta and have played since. My highest level character is in her early 40s, like me! I really enjoy playing nature-based healing capable characters. As there is not one in ESO, I've tried different variations of the four classes over the past year and have finally decided to try building my own druid. This is the beauty of ESO that no other game (that I know of) can provide. Players are typically stuck with cookie cutter builds and play within limitations. Not here!

I suppose the real question is, if ESO does not provide a druid/shapeshifting class, how can one be built with the current classes? And before you ask that question, what does being a druid mean to you? Does it mean calling down the fury of the skies to smite your opponents, or call upon the earth to slow them, or fire to burn them? Perhaps you call on the gods or you rely on your staff's life-giving energy to help you heal your friends.

    Fun topic.
Most people go through life dreading they'll have a traumatic experience. Freaks were born with their trauma. They've already passed their test in life. They're aristocrats.

Wyrd class for female characters, Inquisitor class for male characters.

You know, just to get under the skin of the people who think playing a character that isn't your gender is "wrong."

Wouldn't it have made sense to have made them the defensive light armour class? With the rumoured sixth class being hunter, that'd be a lot more fitting for defensive medium armoured...

lore wise. transformation is bad but illusion is alright.

changing your appearance or making others perceive you differently is just simple illusion magic. You're not actually transforming, you're just cosmetically different.

Anything that let's you change shape is considered daedric and dangerous since aedra and Divines aren't usually into that.

With Vampire and Werewolf you already have equivalents to WoW transformations. You've got the Shadow Priest/Moonkin and the Feral Druid.

Could they add a third "daedric" transformation line? Lich? More "werebeasts?"

As for Shamanism, Bosmer have spinners and the Brackenleaf briars. They also have those guys that sheep plants into structures.

Why does a transforming class always have to be a Druid? Druids are priests in a way, and from many other games they are nature related. Why can't we get like a Necromancer shapeshifting class that turns into Zombies, Wraiths, or other undead?

Or maybe an atronach based shapeshifting class, where you turn into something relating to the Fire, Frost, Lightning, or other Atronachs?

Absolutely-The Idea of Daedric transformation is a great idea! not sure if Lore would permit very well though. If Flying mount mechanics were available, i'd say it would be awesome to travel by changing to eagle and taking off!
