Stamina Based Block builds now weaker compared to Magicka based ones ZOS

The very fact that Stamina doesn't regen while you block means they'll always have less DPS then Magicka Based ones.

This is a pretty big flaw in the change.

    How does stamina regen while blocking influence stamina based dps? You can't block while using jabs / wrecking blow / rapid strikes, so it won't change anything.

    The trick especially for stam users is to Block is bursts so you only miss a bit of regen. Block a few attacks then go back on the offensive so you can continue regenerating and keeping pressure on your enemy.
    Main: Breton Nightblade "Shadow Cleric" (Sustained Damage/offhealer) 5L/2H - Resto + S&B
    Alt: Argonian Dragonknight (Stam DoTs/Tank) 5H/2M - S&B + Bow
    Alt: Nord Templar Berserker (Rawr) 5M/2H - Dual Wield + Two Hander
    Alt: Altmer Sorceror (Pewpew) 7L - Destro + Resto

    I have the perfect fix. Don't let Magicka regen when someone has a shield up.

    He has a valid point. The most successful blockers in the current build are magicka specs. They suffer no dps loss, aside from maybe hybridizing a little, while using a pool that typically has low regen.

    Also you have to take into account that even tapping block stops all stamina regen for a tick cycle (2 seconds). So it costs a stamina spec more resources to block then it does a magicka. As an example if a DPS stam spec with say..2400 regen, just taps block, it costs him the initial block cost +2400 stamina worth in regen. If a DPS magicka spec with 1k regen taps block it likely costs close to the same for the initial block but only an extra 1k worth of regen.

    I personally see a problem with this.

    If you are getting less dps than a magica build with a stamina build on PTS right now you are:

    a) Using a bow which is a great way to get low dps as bow dps is really in the toilet and has been for some time.

    b) The most inept player to ever play any game ever. Seriously, dual weild and jab jab jab. It's not rocket science and with the new massive thrown weapon buff cmon man. Meanwhile, staff took it in the teeth and all that flame damage every good magica DPS depended on is pretty well worthless with all the resistant enemies in the sewers. This all doesn't even mention the much better than magica new stam gear sets. Did you see, the 1 item bonus on one of the new monster sets is actually weapon damage FTW. After 1.6 you never saw a good magica dps in PVP and now you will never see one in PVE either. The damage is not in the same stratosphere. You may be right that things are pretty unbalanced in the dps department but my stam toons are not complaing. It is my magica dk that is getting converted into a tank as it's dps with all that gear, weave, dots, and champ points is lower than my healer specked and geared templar punching 2 buttons. Great balancing on that. I'm sure you won't get any blowback for that decision being that nobody plays a magica DK or anything.
    Yes I am deeply embarrassed to still be playing this game. I know better.

    I wanted to try S&B next patch, but why should I use it if I can't block without losing my main ressource completely.

    The only thing I'm worried about is the fact that Stamina builds can't spam their only defense mechanic, but Magicka still got unlimited shields. Hope it's not as bad as I imagine it.
    Block as defense is not viable, at least not in long term - same for dodge.

    Ummm, completely ignoring this post is about stamina blockers and not for example dual wielders, did you just try and say 1.6 doesn't have any magicka dps in pvp and pve?

    There are ways to deal with the no stam regen while blocking. You just need to start looking at gear and champ points to assist.

    What "massive thrown weapon buff"? Flying Blade? ...it's getting nerfed! Read the patch notes before you post dude!

    And by that same logic, Sorc's shouldn't have magicka regen and Hardened Ward. They are OP too, and have been for quite some time.

    One thing they could do, would be to make various damage drain other ressources while blocking that damage. For instace blocking physical dam would then drain your stamina, whilst magickal damage would drain you magicka while blocking. (just a though anyway).
    The poor rationel of the *why are people expecting game developers to owe its community anything* is more easily translated to *to hell with the plebs that gave me the momentum and capital to make this game, i am its ruler and I am incappable of errors*

    I think the point is that a dps, whether it be magicka or stamina based will want to block occasionally. When a magicka dps blocks an occasional hit, his secondary attribute stops regenerating for up to nearly 4 seconds depending on the timing of the block. His dps attribute suffers no negative effects. If a stam dps blocks occasional hits, his primary damage resource stops regenerating for up to 4 seconds. That's a huge collateral hit on a stam dps if he wants to occasionally block. It's a penalty that magicka dps feels much less and creates an imbalance.

    Nicely explained. I notice you use the term "occasionally block" where "occasional" is a key word. As a magicka user I definitely occasionally block, but my small stamina pool is a limiter. Shouldn't stamina users still be able to block more due to their larger pools-- it's just that they have to ensure the "occasional" usage?


    Disabling the grass may improve performance.

    They block about the same amount cause stamina user is using a portion of his stam for dps, only his dps resource won't regen now like magicka users will

    Would just make blocking even worse, would not fix the problem
