Hey all, (TL:DR at bottom)
I never post here and I'm going to try to keep as "non-rant" as possible. With the upcoming changes, I was excited, thrilled even with the thought my build may be endgame DPS viable but I fall in two REALLY tough categories. To save the trouble, I'm a Sorc/vamp/bow user. I just recently went vamp and I got a ton of utility and could get away, using crit surge and stacking crit/weapon power as high as possible was decently easy (even though no set truly catered, running 5 hunding 5 hawks eye at v14) I thought the self heal crit bow user was amazing, I LOVE the playstyle even though my friends consider it "panic mode omega".
BEHOLD the PTS! after I fiddled with the usersettings.txt, I stopped crashing, I could dish out dps and amazingly the crit surge buff REALLY helped me heal more efficiently. However, I cannot sustain to save my life, best I get is 11k sustained over 1m+ fights and 18-20k Burst (pvp) I've done builds for multiple games that went on to be quite famous in their retrospective circles (ofc). The problem I'm finding here is that bows, because they are a secondary choice, seem to be so far rooted to other weapons I fear that ZOS will never make the bow/bow user a valid class.
I remember the ONLY time bows were decent and that was before the game was really even released, If a bow user is sneaking, he should be able to ring your bell and at least make you fear the next shot (if he didn't kill you in one) and I'm not going to sit here and say ZOMG ZOS PLZ BUFF BOW. I'm also not going to give my backwards ideas to ZOS as well as what could be fixed. I'm really wondering, what's stopping them? Is there some secret no one knows about? Is there some combo that gives only bow users massive DPS or the ability to hang with the elite? I mean, I really don't want to be the guy that says "Just do this and it will be fixed" however, I feel the ONE thing that stands out of the core problem is bow sustain.
We already have to dodge, dip, dive, duck and dodge which can kill dps, we work off the same pool and if we're smart, we use the magicka that always seems to be 100%. In this case we really still can't take a hit unless we're DK or temp and even then, you're more likely to grab a 2h/dw ontop and just use the bow for range.
Why can't there just be a buff that ONLY happens when you have two bows slotted? I mean, you can do WHATEVER you want there. My first thought would be x% of damage inflicted over x seconds applies a bleeding effect for x seconds. This way, the burst counts but just irons out the unusable sustain. We suck at poison and we suck at physical damage.
Melee builds should do more DPS, I hate getting close to monsters, I'd like to see a viable fix for bows in general. Sorc just helps me crit heal.
End point, stamina sorc could be an amazing idea for me if the bow was actually a viable weapon.
TL:DR, Bows are not top tier viable, they are secondary items and I fear they won't change. I say I wont, then provide an idea for a fix. QQ.
