Lockpicking in IC

When I go to pick a glowing chest it's very "laggy" and it's particularly hard to lockpick. Response is similar to if I was playing the game on a too low CPU. Friend I was grouped with had the same issue.
Is this as planned? Has anyone else had the same issue?
I haven't tried lockpicking outside of IC.

✭✭✭✭✭I think it has to do with how some of the chests have a purple "ward" on them; I imagine if you fail to pick it, it'll cause magic damage to you.

✭I too had it lag to the point where even simple locks became incredibly hard to deal with. When combined with the gankers roaming the streets it made chests more like death traps than potential sources of loot.Character: Telel
