I don't get this" this is how it is on consoles bit". It's not for every mmorpg I've played on the console. Character names were shown for characters. Why are some acting like this is "normal". It is for FPS , but for mmorpg's I name a character because I want to use the character name. And again , Final Fantasy and DCUO both use these. It's not "console logic" because most other console mmo's use character names (and text chat). There seems to be a lot of misinformation out there from some with an agenda to fool other people into thinking all console games are like this. It's not true when it comes to mmos.
I wouldn't mind the option, but I wouldn't set it to character names. They show character names on PC and it's so annoying to meet new people in the game only to not know who they actually are a few days later when they've logged on alts. I end up just removing most of my new friends on PC because of this, but on PS4, I still remember how I met people on my PS friends list that I haven't spoken to in weeks. It's also really nice seeing the same name in your PS parties that displays in the game so you can actually match a character to a voice.
It's interesting how when PC launched, there were threads complaining about how they implemented the character name/userID system, yet that's essentially what this thread and others are asking for to be implemented on console. Grass is greener, I suppose.
I feel like ZOS is ignoring the issue, but I'm curious how many people would actually want to see their character name instead of their GT/PSN ID above their head.
