Currently, as it is in the IC and the Sewers, if you solo a trash mob, they'll give you 4 TV stones, base.
With that said, if you're farming for fun and profit, here's how it looks:
To get to the first multiplier (x2 at 100 stones) you need to kill 25 trash mobs solo. Total mobs: 25. Total stones: 100 (25x4).
To get to the next multiplier (x3 at 1000 stones) you need to kill 113 more mobs solo. Total mobs: 138. Total stones: 1004 (25x4 + 113x8).
To get to the next multiplier (X4 at 10000 stones) you need to kill 750 more mobs solo. Total mobs: 888. Total stones: 10004 (25x4 + 113x8 + 750x12).
This doesn't take into consideration extra stones from chests/boss mobs, stone gain if you're in a group; these are just trash mob numbers, going solo.
WITH THAT SAID:
With a 2x multiplier, it takes 13 mobs to make 100 more stones.
With a 3x multipler, it takes 84 mobs to make 1000 more stones.
With a 4x multipler, it takes 625 mobs to make 10000 more stones.
Efficiency solution:
Since the 3x and 4x multipliers are out of the question for most people due to PVP deaths (you're MUCH more likely to die via PVP before you hit 138 or especially 888 mobs farmed) it doesn't make sense to shoot for them, leaving the 1x and 2x multipliers.
If you're going from scratch, a death won't mean much, but it's 25 kills to the first multiplier, and the more mob kills you need, the more likely it is that you get killed by another player. The idea is to minimize risk time, while maximizing reward time.
Therefore: Do what it takes to bank 100 TV stones. Once you have them, even if you get killed and all TV stones stolen, you have 100 that you can take out to automatically give yourself that 2x multiplier. Then you just have to avoid a player death for 13 mobs, and you'll have doubled your TV stones. If you're really skittish, you could even bank the excess with every mob kill (IE. have 100, kill a mob, get 108, bank 8). Wouldn't advise that, since that's a lot of running around. But definitely having at least 100 stones banked and simply running around with the 2x is MUCH more risk/reward efficient that going for the 3x or 4x multipliers, or pooping around with the 1x multiplier.
