I've set mine to 1798 and I'm in. I hope this helps someone else.

I just crash after logging in. Every time, can't even get to the character screen.

Never had an issue before this patch.

...but working now, thanks for the tip. Particles set to 1780.

The one day I decide to try out PTS I keep getting crash reports the second after I hit login after entering my PW. I tried the particle slider like someone recommended, but it was already at 1050 and when I changed it it didn't seem to help. Still got the crash report. This has happened 3x so far.

Just an FYI,

I have addons running so it may be totally due to them, however, I have no problem logging in BUT login times and reloaodui times and character login times are taking up to a minute to complete.

And I'm getting a brief 999+ ping on character login, often a sign of addon preload but not an issue on Live though.

So if you are having screen freezes without an immediate CTD, wait much longer than you normally would and let it try to complete.

I also had the immediate crash on login issue, and the solution of turning down my maximum particle systems below 1800 solved it. I previously had it maxed.
