I have had 0 problems with voice chat ,and my guild is well over 100+ members. To everyone complaining about dam numbers and other pc eso add-ons dose it really matter?

Voice chat works perfectly (Xbox NA here).
It is by far more efficient than typing and less confusing, text chat in my opinion is not needed at all. I can complete a sales transaction with a player in a fraction of the time would take to type all the communication out, plus all the humor and fun is not missed as it would be typed out.
I have met and made MANY MORE friends and had MORE FUN with USING VOICE CHAT than ever would have using text.
More and more I read of the "lack of text chat" argument, really starting to believe the ones so vocal for text chat are most likely kids as they are often not taken seriously as players. To a point, I understand their concern. Been at the crafting station in Vulkhel Guard and the infamous punks and bullies just start being rude to them as soon as they hear a kid voice. This is terribly wrong. Who cares if they are kids? They are an ESO player--same as them. As long as they are being mature and wanting to play and contribute, I repeat, who cares?
If anything Zeni's man hours and effort should be spent in removing and banning jerks from the game.

I think it is the short attention spans that will be a struggle for console ESO in the long run.

I am curious about those who don't see the point in text chat though - have you every played a console MMORPG before, or is this your first? No sarcasm or insult intended. It's an honest question.
I have to admit that within ESO I have the attention span of a caffeinated squriir.....oooh, cotton!I played DCUO on the PS for about three years....so console <> short attention span.theforgottenking1779 wrote: »I was just wondering eso hasn't been out that long on console yet and people seem to be loosing faith in it since it has some problems like no text chat for example and no xp numbers or damage numbers that show my question is do you think eventually they will have to add all this stuff to the console version also for it to stay afloat for the next year or so on console or do you think that console will survive without these improvements jw

Yeah the attention span comment is arguable for a select group, but just wait for the next big title to hit the market. We'll see.
Not sure why you think I was arguing against text chat, I wasn't. I actually struggle being social without it.

Its not a matter of being perfect, PC version is far from it.. Its just a matter sooo many standard game features from PC are either missing from the console version, or is just not clear in instructing people how its done. If its working well for you, and you dont miss text chat at all, then maybe you can explain to me (who admittedly only console voice chat experience is with CoD type games, and never had a console mmorpg game before) how you are doing these things in the game?
1) How to find a guild to join? Where does one go to listen to all the guild recruiters pitching their guilds, so you can talk to them about joining? Im used to seeing all their advertising in text chat.. Now Im sure it would be quicker to do this by voice, but I cant find any recruiters? And if I do find them, how to send a whisper or tell so I can speak to them?
2) How do you address zone in order to either sell, or see if someone is willing to sell, an item?
3) How do you get into more than one voice channel at the same time? I mean if I was to figure out how to have a private voice chat with a guild recruiter, or someone selling something, how can I still talk to him while keeping up with what is being said in group chat as well?
And one last question, this is the one that made me finally give up on the game-
4) If youre the only one at a dolmen, world boss, etc how do you call to zone for help if there is no one close by to you?
Yes it may be that I am just to used to having a text chat in a mmorpg game, but in general I have no problems with trying new methods of doing things so I tried to give the console version a chance.
In the end though, I found no new methods to try, instead these things were just not possible at all. Or at least not very clear how to use. Either way, I have other more fun things I can be doing rather than spending half my play time sitting alone at a dolmen watching necromancers preform same moves over and over again..If someone can explain how these things are done with voice chat, or if they decide to add a way we can do these things in the game (at this point I dont care if its text, voice or even smoke signals) I will be glad to come back and try again.

Agreed. In mid battle I'm not stopping to read, or stopping in mid battle to type to everyone what's going on. I have no idea how people do it, let alone like it. I know if im in a group, all players without headset will get booted. If you can't talk or at the very least listen, I got no use for you
No it really isn't, not if your serious about actually being the best in a competitive and co-op gameI don't even use damage numbers on PC...who really cares? there's a health bar. Are you doing more damage to your enemy than they are to you? Is their health bar decreasing faster than yours? Yes? Then all is good ( for example )
Nevermind this PC vs. Console rubbish that everyone talks about. It's all a good thing. If people are enjoying themselves on whatever format, then it's a good thing. I play both, PC and console.

1.) There are places people hang out to craft (see 2). People recruit for guilds, especially trade guilds in those areas. Undaunted Enclave is good for guilds that do dungeons.
2.) There are places that people are gravitating to get stuff crafted. Xbox EP, Riften is pretty popular because of bites. Also a decent number of people in Belkarth looking for crafts and VR guilds. Places will vary based on Console, server and alliance.
3.) On Xbox you can listen to 2 channels (shows headphones on vice section of social menu). Currently party chat never seems to work as one of them (though I have rarely been able to hear local while in a party chat... not sure which is a bug, but party chat is not listed in social...). You select which 2 to listen to, then select 1 to talk in (mic symbol) you can move them around. I keep mine in Guild 1 and Local (mic in Guild )unless I am grouping, then I use Guild 1 and Group (mic in group) you can tell which channel is speaking on Xbox by name color of speaker icon on bottom right of screen. Guild is green, Group is blue.
4.) Never had to call zonewide. Usually someone will eventually show up... I'm VR9 and I get help at dolmens and bosses pretty quickly if I need it or not and I'm pretty far above the current Xbox average level curve. If that is not fast enough, you can go to nearest Wayshrine and/or town and try to get someone to help in local.
I have been asked to help out a few guildies late at night through guild chat though. Usually someone will show up by the time I get there (especially for dolmens because people will see them active).
Not perfect, but works pretty well.

Thanks for the suggestions, on 1 and 2 you mention Riften and Belkarth. This could be the issue for me, why I cant find them. Im not high enough level yet to get to these places. Low level craft areas are usually nothing but nonsense talk, no recruiters and nothing for sale, except for occasionally someone trying to sell a bite. Might be a good market if any recruiters/sellers are reading this..
#3 was actually very useful, I will check that out again. I have no problem with having to switch over to speak, (to me is no different from carrying on multiple conversations by typing /zone, /guild 1 etc) the main issue is I want to be able to hear multiple channels, I wasnt able to sort out how to do that..
# 4 Unfortunately its happened to me a lot..I thought about leaving the area to try to find someone, but figured by the time I would find people and came back, others would have come along and killed it.
The common issue here, is I believe there needs to be a way to communicate outside your immediate area. Doesnt have to be text, but at least some way to do it. Otherwise I dont see this game keeping a lot of players, at least not those who are into the whole mmorpg thing.. Its still a very good game for those who are into single player, co-op or small party type games, but not sure if there are enough of them currently in game to sustain it. Many of my FPS games friends I cant even get to try it because of the way the game is advertised.
But anyway, thanks again for the suggestions
