It lets you filter by name, attributes, etc. So if you want to look for a Khajiiti Sweet Stuffed Duck you can type in "Sweet" or "Duck" or the whole thing and only those recipes will show. Or you can say, "Only show me blue recipes" or "Only show me Kura stones" and so on. It also includes things like "price per unit". Basically it's what the guild store UI should have been.

Which is the main reasoning behind the current system. They would still need to do some leg work so it wouldn't be too bad. Still the easier you make it on the buyer to locate and price those good, the easier it is for that to happen. I've seen it happen in certain vendor spots like Craglorn already. At least you have the option to go to a different location to get fair prices.
I think the best thing would be to implement what mods already do into the actual UI (for console users mainly). Add a text search along with the current filters. Have the last search automatically saved. You then walk up to each kiosk and press "e" (talk) then "r" (search). Doing this with mods takes less then 5 seconds per vendor. If you hit the hot spots you should have no problem finding what you are looking for. If you can't find it, it is probably just a rare item. I find the best places to search for vendors are each alliance's pledge towns (Deshann, etc.), final zones (Rift, etc.) and Craglorn. Meanwhile as you enter each zone you can say "WTB..." if it is something you may have trouble finding. Granted you're on pc.
