Item Finder Idea - Searching for specific items in guild stores takes far too long.

If you need a specific item and you aren't allowed to use the forums to trade, then your only option is to visit every single guild store in the game until you find the item you're looking for.

Sometimes they have the item, sometimes they don't. Sometimes you miss out a trader or two, and one of them has the item. Sometimes when you find the item, it's ridiculously overpriced and you have to look for it elsewhere.

It also takes far too long to go through each and every one. The loading times seem 10x as long when you do this.

I propose some kind of search engine, accessed via the map, that enables players to look for a specific item. The results of said search engine will be presented by some kind of marker over guild traders that have that particular item in stock. It won't tell you how many they have, or how much they're selling them for, but it'll tell you that they currently have it.

If implemented, this will save tons of time. Particularly for Master Provisioners like myself, who have been looking for the same exact recipe for the past three and a half weeks.

That is an excellent idea. And since it is an excellent idea suggested by a player, expect it to never happen.

That would basically be a an auction house that involves some travel. It won't happen so put on retreating maneuver download Awesome Guild Store and deal with it. Just the way it is.

I would be hesitant to want something like that because it would empower people to easily buy up the market so that they can control the prices. Which is the main reasoning behind the current system. They would still need to do some leg work so it wouldn't be too bad. Still the easier you make it on the buyer to locate and price those good, the easier it is for that to happen. I've seen it happen in certain vendor spots like Craglorn already. At least you have the option to go to a different location to get fair prices.

I think the best thing would be to implement what mods already do into the actual UI (for console users mainly). Add a text search along with the current filters. Have the last search automatically saved. You then walk up to each kiosk and press "e" (talk) then "r" (search). Doing this with mods takes less then 5 seconds per vendor. If you hit the hot spots you should have no problem finding what you are looking for. If you can't find it, it is probably just a rare item. I find the best places to search for vendors are each alliance's pledge towns (Deshann, etc.), final zones (Rift, etc.) and Craglorn. Meanwhile as you enter each zone you can say "WTB..." if it is something you may have trouble finding. Granted you're on pc.

I think they should let us browse all our guilds at once.

Okay, now that was really funny.

However it is like he says I imagine. If they won't let us post trades here on the forum, I can see this being the case. Too much like an auction house and such.

I was actually thinking about this earlier today. it doesn't let you sort the items alphabetically by name either. So I sort of drew a similar conclusion to nordsavage.

I don't mind visiting more than one trader, just wish the game would remember the last set of criteria I searched for (VR12+, Light Armor, Hands).

To everyone that thinks this would be too much like an auction house, this is purely for people who are looking for something specific.

It's an absolute nightmare with the current system. Roast Chicken is a Level 1 Green Recipe. It should be one of the most common recipes out there, and yet I've never seen it. Ever. Not Once.

I'm far from the only player in this position, and there needs to be a way for us find things like this that doesn't involve running all over the ***-ing continent.

The regular system is good if you're just browsing, but it's terrible for almost everything else.

I think 90% of the issues people have with the Guild Traders would go away if ZOS just incorporated the AwesomeGuildStore addon into the interface.

I just showed that addon to a friend yesterday, as he was looking for a specific Necromancer piece and it was like Christmas in July. It was awesome!

OP: Just because Roast Chicken is a level 1 recipe doesn't make it more common than higher level recipes. In fact, it probably isn't because a lot of players go through the zones where it drops fairly quickly. The most common recipes are actually the V5 and V10 ones because that's where a lot of the playerbase spends their time. And a lot of people will just learn that recipe when they find it, so it's less available for sale.

And it used to be worse. You used to find recipes based on character level, not zone, so many of the level 25-35 recipes were impossible to find.

It lets you filter by name, attributes, etc. So if you want to look for a Khajiiti Sweet Stuffed Duck you can type in "Sweet" or "Duck" or the whole thing and only those recipes will show. Or you can say, "Only show me blue recipes" or "Only show me Kura stones" and so on. It also includes things like "price per unit". Basically it's what the guild store UI should have been.

First it displays the filters in a nicer format. Second it adds a text search. Finally it remembers your last search so you can go vendor to vendor without resetting your filters/search. You can also save searches or reuse recent searches. For example I have a bugloss and columbine search saved.

The only problem it has, that ZoS should be able to address with their own iteration, is that it can only do a text search per page. So if your filter pulls up three pages of items, you still have to click through the three pages. Only the items matching your text search show though. So you may see pages one and two with no search results but page three has two items that match the filter and text search. You can sometimes use the price sort to help out with this.

For example looking for a cheap recipe you will want to search for green quality recipes, with a keyword from the recipe in your text search and sort by the cheapest recipes first. Since there isn't a great way to filter recipes you still may have a couple pages to click, but your results will be clearly displayed if available.

Once it is setup to your liking you just open each vendor and click search, possibly having to click multiple pages.

    That really does sound awesome.

If it's an add-on, it must be compatible with the game's coding....so maybe ZOS could add it to the game without much effort?

HEY! ZOS! COULD YOU DO THIS PLEASE!?

It's a huge time saver when you're searching for specific items with a specific trait or level. For example you can search for light armour + hands + divines trait or VR14 + heavy armour + head. The real time saver is it remembers your searches so you can repeat them quickly at the next vendor.

Have a stupid, ***, overcomplicated, inefficient search system so that "some people" don't control the market. That's the most convoluted, backward, borderline *** thing I heard today.
