I would think that Templars are the least used. I'm not sure what the official ESO facts are or if there are any, but I think the most popular (in order) are:
1. NB
2. DK
3. Sorc.
4. Templar

VoidBlue✭✭✭✭i rolled a nightblade as my first toon. stuck at VR9 almost VR10 right now.
but i made a toon for the other 3 classes and am now in the process of leveling them all up. gonna do a zone by zone thing with them. first the sorc will finish glenumbra, than i will finish glenumbra with my dragonknight and than with my templar and repeat this process with every zone until all my toons are stuck at VR10

Thymos✭✭✭✭✭I think most people have a DK main due to the initial imbalance heavily favoring them. Next, I would say Sorc and NB. Then Templar. I don't know. I have definitely seen more waves of sorcs and templars.
I don't believe most people care about the imbalance or are min/maxers. My belief is that people play what they think is cool and fun, and I would have to say Nightblade is probably the most popular, because it's the only one that feels like a rogue. I'm using classic DnD to support my idea on this, as Dragonknights feel more like the basic Fighter class, and the basic Fighter class was hardly ever used in a pure sense, so I would say it's probably one of the less popular ones. I could be wrong, as people might see Dragonknight and think Dragonborn.The Older Gamers Recruitment Thread

That's based off what I've seen in AD on Xbox as well as what my friends are playing as. I'm a Templar and I've not seen many of them about. Loving it though. Great for solo play, very durable IMO. -
Wolfenbelle✭✭✭✭✭Different perspective. I have one of each. Main is a vr14 Imperial Templar, 2nd is a vr14 Sorcerer, 3rd is a vr8 DK, and newest is a lvl 9 NB. Each one has its pros and cons, but my favorite is always going to be my first, the Templar.

Stalwart385✭✭✭✭Endgame running trials with several groups the order for me would be:
1. Templars
2. DKs
3. NBs
4. Sorcs
The first two are close, NB aren't far away and its always worth mentioning when you see a Sorc.

Templar, dk, sorc, nb
When i pvp i tend to see alot of NBs -
FlounderOG✭✭✭Templar challenges are hard simply because we refuse to die in a group. Sorcs and NBs are squishy, and DKs have a lot of shielding and regen.
If I had to give an uneducated guess:
1 and 2: dks templars
3 and 4: sorcs and nightblades-Daggerfall Covenant (Xbox NA)-
