If so then...... well, at least it'd be truly like console...... which is a bad thing in this case.
If it doesn't remove text chat, then why is there still no address to the 74+ page thread on adding text chat to consoles? Would like an answer to that, but discussing that might get this thread closed by a ZoS employee that thinks it's all about console text chat, which it's not.

True, but they might expect people to move the mouse and enter mouse/keyboard mode again just to see the text chat. 1. The PC controller UI has the text chat box that was a part of development that ended up scrapped for console.
2. Add-ins will pop up the text box if its not natively supported.

Actually you bring up another good point. Will ZoS even let us use addons to mess with the Console UI on PC? It's not guaranteed. They might just say something like "If you want addons, don't use the console ui".

✭✭✭✭✭Here is my concerned... AUTOMATIC switching UI based upon what you have plugged in. Well I, for one, like how I am using my controller with the PC and want to continue this method. I shouldn't be FORCED to use the new UI simply because I want to use a controller. I like having my keyboard and mouse handy and using my other devices such as Logitech G13 with it. So I am HOPING FOR HEAVEN'S SAKE that they put an OPTION in the menu to switch OFF the 'automatic' UI switching. After you PC players see what a total mess it is without text chat then maybe something will be done about the lack of text chat on the console version.

Please, they haven't been listening to us much on the PC side either. LOL I probably just wouldn't use it if it got rid of text chat, which would be sad, I'd like to give the game a shot with a controller, we'll see how things pan out in time. By 'in time' I mean whenever ZoS actually feels like it which could be, you know, tomorrow or sometime in 2037.

I had to give you an "awesome" for that.
Even though I really hope they DO NOT screw over the PC Players that way.
However, it would be nice to see some of the "PC Players" that are "trolling" the console textchat thread with "if you want text go to pc" posts get a taste of what they are talking about, and why console players are so up in arms about it.

the way he said it, and how it was being used in development, I would assume it does at least hide/minimize the text chat window. if you touch the keyboard to type, it'll probably count the same as the mouse.
Can't we just accept that consoles will never have a text chat ?

Once again, if they add extra features to the console ui that does not exist on the original people are going to be pissed. I'd actually QQ until I got banned tbh. I don't care about text chat, but who is the idiot that thought not allowing weapon swap while moving would be beneficial?
Fact is, the quick press d pad buttons are all entirely useless. You can tell they barely thought about the controller buttons because they believed that being able to switch between quests was more deserving of a button than push to talk. They also thought the ability to open the map in while moving was more important than the ability to weapon swap while moving. ***?
Edit: Original post only had ps4 controller in mind. Just remembered that the map button on xbox one is also inconvenient to open while moving. So instead, just let people customize their buttons. ✭✭✭Text chat will not be removed because not everyone on PC is ever going to swap to using controllers.
Text chat may be unusable without swapping back over to keyboard and mouse temporarily though.
