How does one figure out stat soft caps?

I'm particularly interested in the magicka regen soft cap, but a general formula would be great. I'm trying to determine if I should put cp into magicka regen, or spell cost reduction, first.

Thanks in advance.

As of 1.6 there are no more soft caps. There are VERY few hard caps, such as (I believe) armor, hopefully someone tumbles in who can name them all.

    Ah, I see.

Then, I suppose my question is, is it more beneficial to increase magicka regen, or reduce magicka cost? This is in the context of a healing Templar, if that makes a difference.

As far as I know the only hardcap is Spell and Physical Resistance. All other are simply limited by how many set bonuses you can have towards that specific thing.

There are still soft caps in the game.

Basically, you know you have hit a soft cap when you start getting less, such as half, than what you would expect.

Currently damage mitigation and block cost reduction work off of a soft cap like system. I'm not sure if there are others.

Ah yes, damage mitigation is what I was thinking about when I said armor. This is what I found in the patch notes
•Removed Overcharge from the game. •The only stats that now cap are Impenetrable, reducing the Critical Strike bonus damage to 0%, and Armor and Spell Resistance, which are capped at 50% mitigation.

Armor and spell resistance are capped at 50% (~32,500), but damage mitigation can go quite a bit higher. I have 90% mitigation on a particular build of mine.

    depends on your playstyle.

If you are building a PvP magic templar healer than I would go for regen. If you are building an engame pve healer go for regen.

If you are new to the game and/or playing with lower level/skilled players in dungeons go for magic pool + reduced cost.

The logic is that with regen you can keep shields/buffs up pretty constantly.

With a larger pool and reduced cost you have a much larger "oh crap" margin of error for burst heals. Tank about to die? Burn half your magic keeping him up with a large pool and its fine, if you burn your entire pool keeping him up and have to wait on regen then its gonna get hairy.
Tl;dr really weigh the fun you have in game vs the business practices you are supporting.
