Console: Why create a name for my characters when only my Gamer Tag is displayed to other players?

  • theforgottenking1779
Same thing happened to me i took over my sisters psn account it has a girl name for the psn i play dcuo on ps4 with but you actually get to use your own gamer tag you create for your chracter on there so i thought hey since dcuo doesn't use my psn as my screen name eso probably won't either needless to say created a chracter on eso chose my gamer tag for them and started playing thinking on everyones screens my name was appearing as theforgottenking1779 but it wasn't it was showing up as haley_stars my dumb psn name but by the time i found out it wasn't my gamer tag for my name and actually was my psn showing as my name i was already vr 3 so i was stuck with this happening i had already put to much work into this chracter to start over it's ridiculous are gamer tag we choose should be are name on eso now i get idiots thinking i'm a girl all the time and i'm not it's annoying af

Microsoft. Not ZOS. We are boned when it comes to this ever changing.

I think this is a load of hooey.
MS lets players use character names in other MMOs that use their systems.

I think ZOS just didn't have the time, patience, or skill to "do it correctly".
And, I hope they do fix this sooner, rather than later.

    Agreed!
What's funny is that GT and Player names never appear over our heads on console so honestly it may have been a different approach but pleasing to only show character names in the Guild UI and group UI.

The GT to me does make sense tho because it's consistent with what you'd see on most online games (don't put a MMO perspective on this) and it's alleviates all this "crazy names" that people would use

It's pretty goofy and I think it will change in the future. There's no way ZoS can ignore the many requests. It's one of the top things that irk console players. :)

I prefer the gamer tags over char names. I think some people forget that on the xbox the gamer tag is YOU. the way you connect with the other players, you send them messages and friend requests are all through the gamer tag. If it was all character names, i think half the people i play with now will just end up disappearing and me never playing with them again.

I have been around the console long enough to know that having gaming friends isn't about just one game. If you dont have friends from 5-6 years ago still playing with you, and you just go from game to game and find friends just in those games and go your separate ways when one of you stops playing that game, i feel sorry for you and think you are doing console gaming wrong.
