It says a lot, and explains a lot about the behaviors that console players are being subjected to when you see players that have gamer tags like XxX420BlazeIt4LyfeYoloSwagLulzXxX.
What I want to know is this:
Why do I constantly get "Name is already in use" when creating my characters, when that name is never even shown? If we're not going to see character names, why even bother with them, or with restricting them because someone else is using it for their character?

Just more of ZOS' idiocy, they've been doing stupid crap like this since the game launched on PC.
On consoles, I believe your actual character name is shown on items that you craft. That's probably the reason for the character name in use message.

I think this is a load of hooey.
MS lets players use character names in other MMOs that use their systems.
I think ZOS just didn't have the time, patience, or skill to "do it correctly".
And, I hope they do fix this sooner, rather than later.

It's the biggest complaint I have with the game. My gamer tag is the same name as one of my alts and fits in with the fantasy theme, but looking at other players gamer tags is a huge turn off for me. What are you supposed to call these people over voice when their names are xXBig_Ballz99Xx or Dkieinf333?

You give people way too much credit if you don't think you will be seeing xxMaximusx123 all over the place either. I mean after the 15th Leonidas you have in your guild, how do start distinguishing them? You are Leo1, you are leo2, you are leo4 and as you rank higher in the guild ur number gets lower
Band Camp statements: To state "But this one time I saw X doing X... so that justifies X" Refers to the Band camp statement.
