I've tried FFXIV at its release, but I was very bored. Not saying it's a bad game. It's just one of the few MMORPG that did bore me. I'm usually not difficult, but that one, just didn't managed to get into it. Mostly because of the combat. The combat feel tedious and ultra boring. but that's just me.

I have played FFXIV for a few months and really liked it - it has quite a steep learning curve though with things like navigation, the PS4 controls, how to communicate and stuff. The combat is a bit slow but its fun. Graphically its very pretty. The character levelling is very different to ESO in that you always play the same character but can switch the role that character plays so that you can level say a conjurer for while, or a miner. I found the community very friendly too, but ESO was coming out so that's what i prefer to play - at least for now.

I personally am not a fan of FF games. I know FF XIV is pretty good, however I wouldn't give it any more credit than "pretty good"... I like "mature" games. While ESO isn't the forefront of mature games (I'd leave that to games like The Secret World, Age of Conan, etc..)... at least it's not "kiddie-ish".

However, that is MY personal preferences... which really won't help you OP. Why not juggle both for a bit and see how you feel in a month or so? I currently play more than 2 MMOs.... plus an FPS Multiplayer and 2 single player games with deep narratives... I'm also good at keeping the rust off when bouncing between games which is certainly not for everyone.

TL;DR The best person to answer your question OP is you.. but I'd at least test the waters in FF XIV before deciding to actually quit another MMO... not sure why people "quit" games to begin with. When bored, etc.. take a break, come back when you want. That's what I do with games and don't see why it has to be an ultimatum.. it's not a marriage, these are video games we speak of! LOL

If you think this game is a grind fest take if from someone who left FF14 and came here, you never seen mindless grinding till you played FF14. Yes you can play every class on one toon, but you can only do the main story one time so once you get to cap with a class and decide to run another class on that toon, the only option you have for exp is to grind these small group battles called FATES. The game is fun for a little while but once you get into the FATE grind you will want to shoot yourself.

Perhaps you should post this in the FF forums. Wouldn't that make more sense?

@tompbcfc well, personally I switched to FFXIV till patch 1.7 arrives here. 1.7 will change evrything once again, imo u can stay here if u enjoy this game, lvlup ur character etc. But otherside if u want to play FFXIV which is better "final" product (srry but ESO is not at final stage) do that and enjoy it and try again ESO once 1.7 hit. Definitly I will try 1.7 too, but for now as endgame pvper there is nothing to do here, mostly lagfest is killing my pvp experience, need break from it, thats why i moved to something more stable. Besides possibility to play with my friends from PS3/4 is also precious for me, cant do that in ESO.

Awhile back SE increased the dungeon EXP, so leveling thru them is more viable.

    Japanese RPG versus Western RPG.

Cartoony versus More Realistic (though still high fantasy)

    Final Fantasy versus Elder Scrolls.

    Two very different series.

Ive recently gone back to FF14ARR because i cant communicate in ESO but just to chip in and help you makee a decision ill drop down some pros and cons for each tittle.

    FF14ARR
    Pros
    - Excelent and engaging story quests.
    - PvE content is fun and abundant
    - Crafting and gathering is indepth and rewarding
    - Plenty of activity's to keep you occupied (Triple triad, chocobo racing)
    - Player housing
    - Guild flagships
    - Text Box
    - One character can learn every class

    Cons
    - PvP isnt great (been worked on)
    - The Gcd is anoying at early levels

    ESO
    Pros
    - Combat is a nice change
    - PvP is fun and dynamic
    - Fully voiced Quests
    - Classes arent restricted to the holy trinity.

    Cons
    - PvP is Largely unbalanced
    - PvE Content is lacking
    - Lack of damage and healing numbers
    - Lack of Communication options
    - Group finder is a mess
    - Cadwells silver/gold

Thats just how i feel about the two some will disagree, download the free trial and give it a shot only you will know if its the game for you.

Well you ESO Cons should say console version on Lack of Communication options and Lack of damage and healing numbers for it is big diffrent between console and PC version for PC do have addon feature and keyboards

FF14 is absolutely horrible compared to ESO, despite all its faults it is by far the best MMO out there right now. Even the brand new Skyforge doesn't come anywhere near ESO quality.

Text chat I understand, but you are trying to justify your choice with the other stuff. I don't have glitches, bugs, or lagging and neither do the other players I play with.

Clearly you resurrected your thread after 10 days to try to kick sand on everyone's picnic. If FFXIV were that much fun, I don't think you'd have the time, much less feel the need, to come back here and post.

I plam on ps4 and I feel the community is completely dead it's impossible to do anything in a group I really enjoy the game but console needs text chat so bad

THIS. As a subscriber to FFXIV, DCUO and ESO, this alone is the one single thing that hasn't made me unsubscribe to the other two games. ESO is by far the better game vs DCUO, and is more involving than FFXIV but communication on both games vs ESO leaves me disappointed and wanting more. Lack of a chat box is ridiculous. Trying to do anything in this "MMO" is a chore, and very tedious. You can't even talk to your league mates if their in another group unless you PSN friend them and send a message.... devs, are you serious? Lack of thought on your part. ESO is the more rewarding game as far as progress vs FFXIV, but DCUO has the most fun at endgame. ESO is the most story and rpg of them both, but you can't really share the experience with anyone. And don't give me the immersion thing. That will bring up another issue entirely. Can't even use our role playing names, just PSN tags. Immersion? Hold up, let me finish this dungeon with "xXlol_headshotXx" and "CoD_sniper2749" and I'll come back and tell you why..... >. >

I have one or two friends still lingering here in the game since launch and one of them said to me that the game is beginning to feel like a second job and that alone will drive him away for the obvious reasons there.
