Should ESO Turn Up The Heat (aka Gore)?...REVISITED!

To make unbiased polls stop trying to make them 'funny' or 'interesting'. Just give the options as straight as possible with no additional comment. If the idea of the thread is for entertainment, then you did fine, if it is for an unbiased poll you need far less character in the answers.

Yes - Gore and sexual themes
    Yes - Gore only
    Yes - Sexual themes only
    No
    None of the above

Personally I will go with No from the above poll, but I cannot go with any of the options in your poll as you do not have that option. I think that gore and sexual themes do have a place in this game. I think they can be, and have been, used to great effect. However, I think the level of the current content is comfortable to play but still effective as the themes are used infrequent. There have several times in the game so far where something has shocked me, but it is because it was unexpected rather than truly shocking. I think that is a great balance. To have the shock but without having to go too far with any of the mature themes.

Boobs gore and other things aplenty.

There is nothing wrong with boobs or sex appeal in a video game, so long as it is kept to a realistic standard, and so long as guys can be shown to be just as sexy as girls just in a different way.

To say there is something wrong with sex appeal is in essence to say there is something wrong with humanity, as it is a core theme in our existence.

As far as gore is concerned, I am cool with it and wish there was more, so long as it wasn't like mortal kombat over the top style gore.

I especially think gore should have more of a place in Coldharbour and some other certain deadric realms as that only makes sense, cold harbour is way too tame and way too plain for a realm that is supposed to be run by the deadra of ***, domination, brutality, and douchebaggery.

Yes for sure, its rate 18+ so give me stuff thats 18+ already ! :)

I would really welcome the gore, boobs and such things. There are plenty of "correct" mmo's with *** fairy's, pink haired elves and lack of blood and gore . ESO should diversify and be the more mature MMO. Like Age of Conan did but that game is getting old. I hope ESO takes over as the mature MMO it can be.

I'm adding my two cents about this subject in hopes of improving this games options and choices. I would absolutely love to see more content implemented into the game as well as more emotes so yes defiantly turn up the heat and maybe even add emotes to go with it but it should really be a toggle for crybaby's and who just don't want to view such things.

I think it's hilarious how people think adult themes=getting off.

I'm able to view material that has adult themes without getting all hot and bothered. Seeing nudity doesn't make me automatically want to go furiously jump on the closest human. Just like killing in my media doesn't give me the desire to shiv my neighbor.

    Am I alone in this?

    Not really.

I dont want the boobs or nudity so that I can say "hé boobies fap fap!" no for me thats part of the realism of the game. TESO is already a more mature game then others as there is no pink haircolor or anything of that. I say as i said before TESO should really be aiming to become the mature MMO. As there is room for a mature MMO.

If you have stuff like Daggers, Battleaxe or Two handers you should have a gore/blood. I bought Ryse from Steam's summer sales man Im loving it, its really AoC on steroids.

I agree with Brothels. But I dont think girls should look like some barbie silicon babes with stuffed lips, that just isnt very ES to me.

Man I loved getting the critical kills/finishers off and on again in Age of Conan. . . my fave was cutting off a mob's one arm, then the next and finally his head on my HoX lolz. Or lighitng them on fire after sticking them in the gut with a blade. They could simply have a gore slider so people can adjust it however they like. I believe AoC did that... I am not 100% sure though because I am just a fan of fatalities.... ever since Mortal Kombat as a kid haha.

This honestly shouldn't be such bad idea since we already have murder, Molag-Bal, stealing, robbing, zombies, cold harbor, trespassing and streets littered with dead body's at times. And could be 'but probably shouldn't' as an expansion and be a part of the law and justice system, but probably want to careful with beast-folk as they tend to be fairly controversial when it comes to nudity and gore.

Aw, come on, mate, don't spoil my fun...

lol. Sorry! I voted yes on all counts!

ESO is a Mature rated game. I would love for it to seem like one. I'm an adult and I'm not too ashamed that I would enjoy a "dirtier" ESO. Blood on the battlefield. A street walker on the on the corner. Revealing armors. a Prostitutes Guild. Skooma dens with full-on Skooma addiction. Gambling. Getting Drunk. Loan sharks. Animal fighting. Knee breakers. I want it all!

    Mature for MORE!!!!

They could make a 'On/Off' checkbox if you want certain gore etc settings in Options

Sort of like the way for half the posts asking for something there is the 'why not allow it and put option to turn it off'

Whats good for the goose is good for the gander n all ;-)

Sorry you didn't get the rating you wanted, ZOS, but those things are BS anyways, and this is and always has been a mature franchise. This is not a series for children, it's disingenuous to pretend otherwise, and it's not up to you police what parents allow their kids (who shouldn't be playing the game in the first place) to be exposed to. So yes, more gore. More swearing. More topless ladies ala TES II. Hell, a lot of your competitors have gone full frontal. And what does a guy have to do to get a smoking emote? Less Disney, more TES, please.

Edit- Although, to be totally fair, ESO is probably more mature than the last two TES games, at least.

The Elder Scrolls series has always struck me as an older player's game. If it already has an 18+ rating then it might as well take full advantage of it. Nothing excessive or overly gorey, but some realism would be nice to see. That being said, all of this would take a lot of new animations, so I wouldn't count on it any time soon, even if they agree to add it.

Gore? Hell yes. More blood? Why not?
Boobs? I wouldn't want that in the game. I like how ESO:TU is finally growing because of the platform spread, and boobs would turn many people away from the game.
Cleavage is nice anyways, and we have tons of that already.

ZoS should make full use of the rating but it should be applied within lore strictures i.e no sexually gratuitous costumes just for the sake of being flagrantly sexy or exploding bodies for no other purpose that blood and guts.

They should ride the M rating like a bull in a rodeo show.

I'm not immature because I want gore and nudity in a game. Lets face it, that stuff's fun.

Go back and play Arena and Daggerfall. You'll see nudity aplenty. As for sex I'd suggest reading some ingame books one of Vivec's sermons details his carnal misadventure with Molag bal. Also the Remanada details the origins of Sanctre tor...

lol i didn't mean in books i meant no to graphic sex scenes or something. or like gtao style strippers in brothels. i don't really mind plain nudity, tho i don't see it happening ever, but i don't see a reason to add full on sex in any way.

Whether "wanted" or not by ZoS this game got the M rating. As such, they should play it to the hilt. Go ahead and put ladies and gents of the evenings in the cities, topless NPCs (of both genders naturally), some spicy dialogue and give me some AWESOME fatalities and drench my screen in the blood of my enemies! I'm not your typical American hypocrite who goes after the gore but gets all squeemish and prudish at an inch of exposed pixel flesh. Keep it all "real", as in context with the world and lore of the Elder Scrolls and I absolutely approve of all of it.
This poll made me miss AoC, that moment your character impales that griefer with your great sword and does the come at me bro gesture is so magical.

I was a huge fan of the one where you kicked your recently deceased enemy off your sword. I get all nostalgic just thinking about it.

I'm not going to voice my opinion in favor of or against gore or sexual themes, but I disapprove of this mentality...that because the game has a specific rating, the designers should sacrifice whatever vision they have for the game to cater to the rating. They were going for T and got M (mostly because it's an Elder Scrolls title and due to the first two Elder Scrolls games they've been unable to break away from M even when they wanted to), but that doesn't mean that they should change the game to fit the rating. If they had a T rated game and were trying to "force" M rated content, that would be different, because that would be an attempt at breaking the rating...but this only works in one direction. You don't "break" an M rated game by containing E/T rated content, you do "break" an E/T rated game by containing M rated content.

If people bought this game simply because it's M rated and were expecting certain features that are only found in M rated games, they might should have done more research prior to purchasing, because not all M rated games contain those specific things. Some M rated games are M due to drugs, alcohol, and/or sexual themes...and yet the sexual themes consist of lewd jokes or innuendo, but no nudity or sex at all. Again, I'm not voicing an opinion either way, but I don't think it's fair to the developers to say "Welp, you got an M rating, so go full tilt and to hell with what you originally wanted!"

You change the rating to fit the game, you don't change the game to fit the rating.

Ok, I know for a fact that ESO tried for a T rating, but failed. A fellow forum poster started a similar poll to this one, but he was awfully biased and, to my knowledge, was probably mentally unstable.

So, here's my question: Now that ESO is M for Mature, should ESO turn up the heat (aka gore)? Note, I am making this poll private.

Why would you come to the conclusion that people would view you as being mentally unstable simply because you pose a pretty non-controversial and sane question in a poll?

Where I'm from there's nothing wrong with gore or nudity/sex in games. This might be a European thing, I don't know.

Im not going to lie, when I heard ESO covered up the girly parts because people were offended or whatever, I questioned whether or not I should support a company who gave in to the complaints, I lost a lot of respect for zenimax after they patched out the cleavage, many other MMOs let cleavage exist, DCUO does it and thats a MMO about super heroes for gods sake.

To be honest, I already play quite a few horror games & ES is a more friendly and gore-free retreat for me. I'd be all for an option to have the blood & gore as an on/off choice though. I think I would occasionally enjoy a good gore-fest play through in some caves & dungeons for a bit of a mix up.

Hey, what happened to the head decapitations like there was in Skyrim? I kind of liked that ... gruesome enough without the gore but a satisfying achievement if you mastered it. B)
