My own little GFX comparison between PS4 and PC

This was mainly for my own curiosity because i have both versions and now play only the PS4 version. Also don't forget the PS4 screenshots have horrible quality in general because of the compression Sony likes to put on screenshots but you will get the idea. Not sure if time of day made a difference either.

Doesn't look it in pic but that's a very very long way away.

Yea when side by side i can tell thigns liek the extra shadows or *** the wood planks are less blury and the little boat is gone etc but unless you put them side by side i still think they look very good on PS4.

I think the view distance though on ESO is super demanding because my PC has a GTX 970 and in long range views the fps would drop to 45, so the fact a PS4 can keep 30 fps in the same situation is good.

Yes, the PS4 graphics are very good. I as well just notice the details missing, as you mentioned, things like wood being a bit blurry etc.

That huge ship on the PS4 screen is missing it's shadow, guess that's a pretty big difference, also tons of details are missing. You should try setting the graphics to the same level and compare the framerate

Well it seems PS4 handles huge numbers of players on screen much better than PC, maybe it's jsut me but even with a full screen the PS4 feels stable but the PC can drop a lot of fps, Maybe with more time they could have made the PS4 more liek the PC? i mean witcher 3 runs on the PS4 with high PC gfx and the w3 gfx are higher than ESO, but maybe the gfx are lower on PS4 to compensate for when large numbers of players are on screen as it is an MMO and it can be random, maybe the game would handle the same gfx settings as PC but then lag with all the people in towns a lot?

For example there's no Ambient occlusion on the grass on PS4 but this shouldn't cost hardly any fps, i get the view distance being lower because on PC view distance kills FPS, but the other options barely make fps shift in my experience so why are these super low demanding gfx options not ON on the ps4?

Also the blury ground, AFx16, why is this not on the PS4? when i turn it form min to max on PC my fps doesn't shift? so why would the PS4 not handle it?

I assure you they are max settings at 1920x1080 on a gtx 970. And why do PC master racists always have to bring up the obvious lol? DID YOU KNOW a Ferrari is faster than a pushbike? not common knowledge i know but... lol.

    This.

Also I don't have a problem with frame rate or loading times that other people seem to have. I'm normally the first person in a room and wait for several people to load in when dungeoneering.

Not everything is the same across the board for PCs and just having a high powered GFX card does NOT makes things better.

There is hundredss of parts made by hundreds/thousands of developers and they all work differently when put together, just having one different piece could read differently on the motherboard, cpu, HDD, etc. Performance rate for PC isn't completely (Or even half-ly really) ESO's fault.

PCs are just so widely unique it's near impossible to make them all run smoothly.

I heart you. I love it when someone says they have a certain gfx card so that explains everything. I lol a lot at that.

I forgot to add that I have 24 gig of RAM so that explains why my graphics are good/bad.

These are some very good comparison shots. Of course, the PC version of the game can be pushed a lot harder so things like higher resolution, improved shadows, better lighting, much higher depth of field, numerous AA & AF settings & so on will show a considerable difference. Either way, I commend the devs on doing a superb job bringing the game to consoles & keeping it looking & running as good as it does. I had high doubts that both consoles would run the game very smoothly. Especially with the large scale PvP. Mainly due to how weak the consoles are in comparison to a modern entry level gaming rig. Was glad that was not the case. Unlike the mess that is Neverwinter lol!

It's not too bad of a comparison, but it is very obvious that the PC version has much, much more environmental details. Especially if you look along the Ocean shore on the right hand side of the second set of pics.

So most likely on console, they are leaving out a whole bunch of non-essential detailed environmental stuff, and keeping the shadows and lighting to lower levels in order to keep the frame rates at 30FPS.
Far too many characters to list any more.

Meh PC gamers are too worried about FPS and the smallest little detail. ESO looks great on XBOX and that's good enough.

PvP on the consoles is most likeley "better" (aka less laggy) on PC, because many skills are still missing, and the meta is different; I'd be very surprised if this is still the same in two month or so from now. First weeks after PC release were just perfect in terms of PvP performance.

I don't see much difference in the first comparison, maybe draw distance is a little less on PS4 but the second one... that was pretty awful. I assume it's not much different on XB1, but I've not noticed such horribleness before.

Mine, too. There's really no comparison between 3840x2160 (4k) G-Sync with twice the texture resolutions, more detailed models, noticeably better shadows, and framerate never dropping down much from 58 (capped to ensure G-Sync stays active full-time for the zero input lag features & elimination of screen tearing) other than hitting 45ish during giant zerg warfare in Cyrodiil. I'll post a screenshot or two later ;). Yes, the console versions look good enough to be very much enjoyable, just like other games that are cross-platform, but no, they are not close enough to be in the same ballpark :).

Stereotypes make for great sitcoms, but they aren't reality ;). Gamers don't magically change into people who do or don't care about fun games because they prefer consoles or PC's. The game is the exact same in gameplay down to the last little detail on the PC, but it looks a lot better and runs smoother, as well as has a more robust UI. Also, considering the majority of high-end pc gamers generally own a console or two as well... what would you call that? :p (Hugs his Wii U for the Nintendo titles). That you felt a need to try to distinguish the game as somehow different on the various platforms is fairly telling.

I'll keep feasting my eyes on this while I play the same content, quests, Trials, and Cyrodiil PVP at a non-stop, zero input lag maxed framerate. Consoles are fun, too, but don't kid yourself about what they are, which is basically low-midrange PC's with a propietary OS :):

Batman arkham, just came out and is so broken on PC it was removed from steam
Planetside 2 too a year to get playable on the majority of medium-high end pc's
Witcher 3 still broken and laggy and hitching to this day
Dragon age inquisition lagged very bad even on high end pc's think it's fixed.
LOTR war in the north took 6 months to patch and become playable on PC with AMD gfx cards

Need i go on? no matter how good your hardware is PC games will ALWAYS end up having game breaking bugs, fps issues, and be unplayable while you wait for patches.

PC gamers act all high and mighty but seem to forget the abundance of performance issues that can take weeks or months to fix to be fun on PC.

Why do you think i got witcher 3 again for my birthday on PS4? even though i had it and the expansion passes on PC? because its a hell of a lot more fun on PS4 despite 30 fps and lower gfx, same with ESO I've had more fun on ESO on PS4 than i ever did on PC, and the voice chat in PVP makes for some epic roleplay lol.

Witcher 3 and Dragon Age also had graphics issues on the consoles too, not just the PC.

Though, just about everything else you wrote has nothing to do with the argument you proposed in the OP. This was PS4 graphics vs. PC graphics, not gameplay bugs or compatibility issues. That's a whole different argument, which you can start a new thread on. Heck so many people already do bring it up about how other games didn't have this problem.

This was a random PVP battle i had when i first started the game, not large scale but as you can see the voice chat in this scenario helped and made it more fun and immersive

    Keep in mind @Adam_Chattaway , you're acting like a PS4 elitist.
