Question about end game raids (trials)

I've hear different info on the topic of where the best gear comes from. Can you craft super great gear or does it only come from trials?

Also, do the raids (trials) have loot locks on them? Like for instance: DCUO has raid resets on Thursday and you can complete them once a week, unless you want to spend REAL money to reset them and continue playing the game. Am I going to have to reset stuff eventually or would I be able to do them as I please?

Thanks e'rybody!

A lot of the best gear at the moment actually comes from PVP . You buy it with AP which is currency you gain when killing players and completing pvp objectives. Some people actually sell this gear but generally is very expensive. There are also many great items that come from VET dungeons and vet dungeon pledges.

There are also some great items that come from doing pve in Cyrodil also. Only a few item sets that are considered great come from trials since update 1.6. I had to run trails dozens of times to get one of the best sets in the game prior to 1.6 but now that set is worthless. And that gear grind was the most fun I had in ESO still :#

Trials still have some nice sets but not as nice as before.

You can craft items that put you in a position to be able to easily complete dungeons . trails and be decent in pvp though. Those great pvp and pve reward sets are something that you kind of strive and work for a while.

PS. There are no dungeon reset times in the game .
The only thing that comes close are the daily pledge chest reward. You only get only one chance at those items per character per day. (Undaunted pledge shoulder pieces)

I have no problem with grinding for gear at all... As long as I do not have to pay to reset it; cause then I'm paying for it and frankly, with loot locks, you might as well just throw $50 in a marketplace and have your suit.

Great items from PvE in Cyrodiil? I haven't heard of that. What gear are you speaking of, and what PvE content in Cyro does it come from? Dolmens? Dungeons?

I've found that doing dolmens, delves, and generally killing mobs while doing quests at one of the quest hubs, gives you dropped set items at a much higher drop rate than doing similar activities in PVE zones. Heck, I remember one evening when some guildies and I were doing a Cyrodiil delves night when I just kept on getting Elegant pieces all night. I think by the end of that trip to Cyrodiil I had at least a dozen pieces from the Elegance set. We kept making jokes about how elegant I was...

Only two timers are related to the trials:
The first time each week you finish a trial you get a lot box on top of the other loot you get from the bosses.

And if a trial is the weekly and you place in the top 100 you get a reward mailed to you.

Other than that, you can run the trials as many times a day as you would like!

What gear is best depends on your build, but I find that a combination of crafted and dropped works best for me for most of my toons.

As stated above, the best gear ingame is highly dependent upon your build. For some (like mine) crafted gear is best, for others, dropped, and yet others, a mix. Some of the most highly sought after items come from PvP at the moment.

To clarify on Trials loot from @PBpsy , Trials gear was good pre-1.6 and is good post-1.6, however post-1.6 the min/maxing focus shifted towards Weapon/Spell Damage. Trials gear grants a lot of Critical Rating, and often some resource boosts and unique bonus effects unlike any other sets (e.g. upon killing an enemy increase Weapon Damage by x and increase Movement Speed by 75% for 10 seconds. Stamina feats cost 8% less. <-- that's all one 5-piece effect). However Critical Rate is no longer the meta, hence the Trials sets becoming "weaker."

Sorta. There is max level content, but it's not the end to the game. ;)
