I have a female Breton that looks asian... because Bretons are like half-elves, you can slant the eyes without looking too elvish.

OP kind of suggest he was Asian, but you have a point. Although, the creators of the ES world copied some cultures and races and mismatched them randomly together (like Redguards have Arab culture but happen to be some kind of Black-Caucasian hybrid).

It just so happens they left out many human races like the East-Asians (although it seems like they're more Akaviri) and for some reason moor/gypsy culture was applied to the catmer, with the occasional, odd slavic accent thrown in haha.

Anyway, there should be no attempt to "equally" incorporate every human identity group into a fantasy world setting. People whine about that too often nowadays under perceived oppression or something.

I'm mixed east-Asian and European, and I find that Dunmer match my facial structure quite accurately, albeit I do need to tone down the brow a bit to get it to match.

The Elven religious perspectives are quite eastern as well.

yeah but so am I (on paper anyway - dual citizen in HK), but that doesn't mean I think the game should emulate real life. It's fantasy - knock yourself out! Let the imagination run wild (provided its within the scope of Lore)

Have to agree. While I'm all about racial and cultural diversity IRL, so far as we know it doesn't exist in Tamriel (even mixed marriages don't produce hybrid kids - they come out one or the other - which makes no sense, but anyway...).

....well, until we get the Akaviri brought into the game anyway. Remember all of this takes place AFTER 2E 430, which if we go by lore, the Akaviri only stepped foot in it after the Raid on Morrowind in 2E 572.

So the only way I could foresee them introducing that race is if they actually opened up the Akavir Continent as well..

What are those horrid things on their head. I am sure that such atrocities do not exist in the game. Helmets on ridiculous.

Honestly I think it should be a debuff if you have show helmet turned on.

I'd be cool with that and I never play with a helm showing.

That's actually a small part of what sold me on playing an online elder scrolls game. As the game expands and the map fills in and all "lore" content releases. There's only one place to go to re-new the experience, and to be honest if ESO ended up introducing Atmora, Akavir and Pyandonea; that would draw so much curiosity for people fans of TES games but avoiding online thus far and I doubt they could resist peering into this world, lol.

Content like this would be very far down the line of course. But I can see it being a possible major expansion pack per continent, The Elder Scrolls Online: Akavir etc.

And keeping this thread on topic, Altmer are Asian right out of the box with their golden hue skin tone!

Probably because of our cultures, and of course race ties in with many cultural identities. Basically why not, who cares.

Really? I always saw the elves were simply just elves when it came to their architecture. But when it comes to how they look, I think everybody just pegs them as Asian because their eyes are slanted (although too much) and have high cheek bones, but really they look like an extremely weird mix of European exaggerated European peoples- prominent brow ridge yet sloped forehead, high nose bridge and really pointy, and especially the pointed chins.

    Dunmer are pure comedians tho

    @BigInGlenumbra ,
My opinion is that when TES was originally in its design phases, that the decision to emulate ethnographic groups was indeed to cue cultural identifiers within the player, and though i find it cringe worthy nowadays, back in the day it wasn't. I guess High Fantasy has moved on a bit since then.

Much of the graphic design that ESO has inherited comes down from the fact that previous titles were made quite a few years ago, before such niceties as multiple core CPU's, dedicated GPU ram, etc. The critters from Morrowwind in particular are easy to spot, they tend toward the angular, and Dunmer are no different.

and yeah not a fan of pointy chins =/

Bosmer and Altmer have obvious Tolkien inspiration, both in their names (Bosmer - Sindarin, Altmer - Silvan) and culture. I'd say Dunmer are more Chinese than Japanese though

Thanks for suggesting and sharing. Asian elf is a good idea but would ruin the character concept I had in mind so I guess I just have to scrap the idea altogether.

ha what? I'm not gay, I just like creating different kinds of characters. All of the human races and cultures in games are based on real life and I'm pretty sure the Akaviri are "asian" as the Japanese inspiration is obvious.
