Glass Armor Motifs

So who else is ready for the new Glass armor style?



I don't know about you guys but it looks sweet.



It's been a while since we've had any new armors added.

I personally quite liked Morrowind's glass armour style. While it looks bulky now due to aged graphics sort of thing, you can actually tell it's glass as opposed to just a greeny sort of metal.

Yeah, it changed to the smooth and polished look in Oblivion and just kinda stayed that way. Not complaining tho. It's going to be awesome regardless.

I'm super excited! I still remember the first piece of glass armor I found in Ald Ruhn ages ago!

Yeah, glass armor looks really cool and it's nice that they're adding it.

Looks alright. Dig the helmet. Malachite being a gold item means getting it is going to be some huge RNG pain in the ass, so I'm not excited about it.

Even rarer chance to obtain from upper crag than nirn?

Or maybe super rare chance to obtain when refining raw materails?

I'm looking forward to it. However, I'm not looking forward to having to either grind for 30+ pages of it or shell out cash in the Crown store.

SUPER excited for it! I really hope it's more of the "jagged" version like in Morrowind. I hated the other versions of it.

I like glass armor and all but from a technical standpoint of view why would you make armor out of glass? Hope no one throws rocks at you while wearing it lol

It's not glass in the sense that we think of glass. It's a durable, lightweight material somehow made from malachite. As far as I know, in the real world we don't have any good techniques for working with malachite aside from the standard ways gemstones and semi-precious stones are worked, so in real life we wouldn't be able to make armour from it. In Tamriel, however, they seem to have a way to do so.

You will be able to craft it in all three armor tiers: light, medium, and heavy.

In Morrowind, the glass armor did sort of look as if it were gemstones imbedded in metal settings. In Oblivion , it looked more like polished glass. I always liked Skyrim's glass armor the best, because the "glass" looked like gemstone accents to otherwise metal armor.

But I've been waiting for is someone to design glass armor to take advantage of the natural beautiful appearance of malachite, including the natural rings that give the gemstones their beauty..

About that technical point of view. Glass is a ceramic materials. And ceramic materials are used as bulletproof pads, as tank shielding and are extremely durable and subject to material engineering. So it might be called glass but we dont know in 100% what it is

It's a crafting style, so to follow suit with the other styles there will most likely be a version for all 3 armor types.

Glass armor was ugly. I hated it in Skyrim, maybe it will look better in this game.

I expect the finished product will not have those giant rugged rocks like in Morrowind. The finished glass armor pictures that I posted also looked like the concept drawings and the 3d model. Sorry Morrowind fans, the glass armor will be smooth and streamlined like the Skyrim versions. But hey at least you can dye it this time!

I think it'll be fun to see so I'm looking forward to it. Then again, I've always liked the glass armor.

That my good sir was my favorite thing to get in Morrowind. Sometimes I would sneak into the Soul Gate, and steal some hehehe.

That my good sir was my favorite thing to get in Morrowind. Sometimes I would sneak into the Soul Gate, and steal some hehehe.

I often used pieces of it, I loved the look back in the day . I'm a bit bummed that they're going for a more Skyrim look, but it was half expected. The armour in question looks alright, I might use it, but the Morrowind style will always have a place in my heart!

It was in Ghost Gate not Soul Gate. I always had to go there to complete my set because all the other places I got glass did not have some pieces. It was tricky to get the merchant to turn his back so I could steal it. I never used any armor in Oblivion but I always swam down for Fin Gleam, which was a special glass helmet near Anvil, as it was my money generator. Ahh, for the good old exploits like duplicating. In Skyrim, I had an Imperial I made specifically to run the main quest and she wore glass but I preferred Nightingale or Vampire or Dragonscale in appearance for my other characters. I truly hate to wear a helmet if it shows and never wear heavy.
