Console Controller Suggestion

Arcaver

I know the game just came out, and I've been loving the game since I first started, but the restriction of skill mapping on the controllers seem to be very restricting. Right now you can assign skills to some of the buttons (L1, R1, R1+L1, square, circle, and triangle) for about 6 skills. I'd like to suggest having different key layouts. On the other MMORPG games for console they usually have a button combination to allow more skill mapping. For example, DC Universe Online has a hotbar that consist of holding down L2 and pressing the button for the skill/power you are to use, like L2 + O. In Final Fantasy A Realm Reborn they do something similar. By holding L2 it would give you a hotbar ranging from 8 skills on one hotbar. They have combinations with L2, R2 and L2 + R2 with the following buttons being able to be assigned to a skill (D-Pad [4 skills], Triangle, Circle, Square, and X). If we could have something like this for the consoles, it would be amazing and increase out investment into our characters as well.

Thank you!

The whole game is built around only having 5 skills + one ultimate on two bars for a total of 10 skills and 2 ultimates. This is not a limitation of the console controller setup- it's the way the game was designed. PC version has the exact same limitations.
NA PS4 Daggerfall Covenant Characters -- CP 755

Sulin Shadowdancer -- Redguard Nightblade -- Dragonstar Arena Champion, General Executioner, Tamriel Hero
Ysorya Traven - Breton Sorcerer -- Monster Hunter, Master Angler, Explorer, Maelstrom Arena Champion, Tamriel Hero
Eriah A'kiranya-- Redguard Dragon Knight, tank
Sybilline Travadon -- Altmer Templar -- Maelstrom Arena Champion
    At-Sixes-and-Sevens -- Argonian Templar, healer
    Mercurial Malice -- Dunmer Nightblade
Fern Gullie -- Bosmer Warden, level 45

If anything, they should allow controller remapping period. That ability and text chat are the only real things I'm missing from the pc version.....well and Ui Mods too lol

He's not talking about only having 5/6 skill slots, he's talking about allowing us to change what buttons on the controller do what.

For example, X is to jump on ps4, and there's no way we can change X to do anything else. On PC, space bar jumps, but if you wanted to you could remap jump to X, or C, or Tab, or anything you wanted.

    PS4 / NA
    M'asad - Khajiit Nightblade - Healer
Pakhet - Khajiit Dragonknight - Tank
Raksha - Khajiit Sorcerer - Stamina DPS
Bastet - Khajiit Templar - Healer

Apparently only play on consoles if you hate having options.

Actually, on dc you can only have 6 powers active. You actually have more options in this with the 2 weapons.

What I always liked about dc and what I like about this is, you don't need access to 24 powers or whatever. 6 works beautifully in dc and like this, means you need to have some strategy when building your character and the powers they can access. FF:ARR is much, much slower don't forget so messing about switching between multiple hot bars is a lot easier.

What makes dc and eso so unique is they aren't click and play, they are very action orientated and more than 6 powers would seriously over complicate things.

They just need to implement controller mapping. It's silly that they didn't.

Please just let me assign my D-PAD right button to do something after disabling quest tracker. Also weapon swap on R3 in addition to D-PAD left would be great, as I never crouch when tanking.
End the tedious inventory management game.

Again , Zenimax is trying to inform all the console players they are too stupid to be allowed to do something as dangerous as remapping your own controls.

While I don't think that's true , apparently some cheer for not having options.

I can't quite logically explain how it's better to not have options , but I bet those people that like having others think for them enjoy a happy simple life

The problem I am having is holding down L3 to sprint for such long periods (primarily on mount), it is really hurting my wrist on left hand. Not sure if an issue for anyone else, but I'd really, really like to remap that sprint to somewhere else.

I'm not sure any console games allow controller remapping- so I don't know if this is a game limitation or a limitation by the console manufacturers. The only way to do so with the PS4 is in the system settings directly, which then change the mapping for EVERY game. They really need to add game controller PROFILES so that you can change them for specific games.

    Agree 100%
If you value being able to customize your play experience, PC is the place for you!

However, I do think they should swap the keybinds for crouch and weapon swap on console. It's simply objectively faster, more responsive for combat.
Really we do it without like, the musical instruments. This is the only musical: the mouth. And hopefully the brain attached to the mouth. Right? The brain, more important than the mouth, is the brain. The brain is much more important.
