Where do you sell items at start of game? (Xbox One)

I have a full inventory and wish to sell all the junk I've collected to a merchant or something like you used to be able to in past TES games. I get off the boat at the start of the game and I go to the first merchant I see. They'll give me 0 for nearly all of my inventory... Do I literally have to get a guild or something just to sell the crap I collected within the first 10 minutes of the game????

If its crap dont collect it... You will start to find which items have real value (even if 0 to a merchant)

Well... the starter stuff you find in the tutorial area is pretty much worthless. Just destroy. It was a way to prevent people from creating characters, and just farm to a full inventory, then complete the tutorial, and sell all the junk, then repeat.

Items with 0 value are junk you picked up from the world. Off the ground, off tables etc.

Only stuff you find inside containers (barrels, boxes, desks, chests etc.) and stuff that drops from mobs has value.

What exactly are you trying to sell?

Its worthless to high levels, but if you want to make food and decon stuff for mats to a new player it may not be "worthless", but with so many VR14s with full crafting and millions in the bank it most likely is worthless.

    Except crafting mats!

PS: I was talking about weapons and armor you pick off the ground. They always have 0 value and are junk.

I was trying to sell Iron Swords, Shields, anything to that degree that I found that used to hold even a remote value in past games lol. I guess it's just going to be weird getting used to how a starter area weapon can be entirely worthless to a starter area merchant.

Its because its an MMO and people would just collect the items sell them and keep doing it over and over making money and destroying the economy.

Yeah no I've never played this game before and just started and was possibly expecting something more casual gamer-friendly at the very very start, not the "I HAVE TO MAKE BILLIONS EVERYDAY OR I BRING GREAT DISHONOR UPON MYSELF" form of RPGing lol.

Then you know that the BoTs that would go around through the walls grabbing all the items in the starter zone killed off any chance of items that were laying around would have any value. When they added the "0" value items the reason is simply because of people who abuse the game.

    I guess I could've been a little more specific.

Keep lockpicks, food items, other crafting materials, deconstruct gear for crafting mats. Other than that, they have a zero value for the reason I stated.

Yeah I just read up about deconstructing items in order to yield materials. I'm hoping that I'm right in assuming that means Iron Swords would yield something like an Iron Ingot, etc. I'll have to wait and see tonight when I get off work.

Unfortunately anything that has a value of zero does not yield any mats when deconstructed. :(

Edit:- By this I mean any white gear with a zero value.

For white and green items (that are not part of a set) if you are not deconstructing them yourself to level crafting, I would just vendor them to a merchant. If you want to either sell items for decon to other players or trade with them so you level faster, you want to use items that you craft (the highest crafting XP is gained from deconstructing items made by another character).

Vendoring stuff will yield more gold than you think.

If you would like to sell items to other players conveniently, joining a guild that has a guild trader is a good idea. Just keep in mind that, since this is the first week of the game, guilds who have traders this week may not have them the next. But joining and leaving guilds is pretty easy in this game.

I was interested in hirelings and was working on using my alts for that; therefore, I was transferring items from a main to them to decon. Is this not advisable? I was under the impression from multiple guides that it was but I noticed quickly that I couldn't level from 2 to 3 in blacksmithing too quickly that way lol. I'm curious though; when you say the highest crafting exp is gained from decon items from another character does that include alts? Say I created something on my main and put it in my bank in order to decon it on my alt and get closer to having hirelings?
