If it's not a secret, how much did you pay for your first key? I'm thinking of asking G2A if they're willing to give me a new key as well. But still no response from them since Saturday morning!

40$ for the basic version, and it's a small seller in my country who bought their keys from another supplier which idk which. The reason I bought it from them, not Steam or ZOS is because I already have some money left on my account there.

I don't think G2A could give you another key, because G2A is not a seller, it's just a market. You can't contact to the seller him/herself so you can only get your money back from G2A, which they charge from the seller account.

It is nice of Zenimax to allow them to keep their accounts and experience points etc if they get another key but I don't think it is right to take their game access away from them because the seller was acting fraudulently and not the buyer.

I myself as a buyer would not be aware if the keys were obtained illegally, I also would not be aware of the T&C's that make this fraudulent either, I am simply a buyer who would want to purchase this game for the best price (and who doesn't want to purchase something at the best price).

Purchasing illegally obtained merchandise is not a trivial matter. If the buyer knew it was illegally obtained, that purchase is also illegal. If the buyer did not know, the merchandise is still fraudulent and most places will not let the buyer keep it.

Bethesda Softworks (publisher) is probably footing the bill for all of these fraudulent copies of the game. The player is in the game but Bethesda has received no money from the account holder. They have not paid Bethesda for the game. The player payed a criminal for the license, directly or indirectly.

Bethesda is also a victim in this crime, right along with the account holder. Bethesda has every right to just ban the player and lock the account. They are not choosing to take this approach by allowing the player to purchase the license in a manner where Bethesda gets the money instead of some criminal. This has the best chance to recover some of Bethesda's lost revenue.

Yeah, it is unfortunate that the player purchased an illegal copy of the game. The fact that they did not know it was illegal does not make it right. Bethesda is still out the money for the license, and that is the only thing that they are asking in return for unlimited (in time) play.

The problem being that from what i'm seeing is that the seller is not refunding them as they are fraudulent anyway, and the banks are giving them a hard time.

Im just saying that unless you bought direct from the game retailer and you also knew about a safe list of retailers, you would easily fall into this trap, and do wonder how many players we will permanently lose (I do not always buy direct and this could of happened to me).

From what i've been reading (I could be wrong), the keys aren't illegal or stolen they are against the T&C's so breach that contract. Its how they were obtained using stolen credit cards and hacked paypal accounts that is illegal?

The term that they used was "fraudulently obtained digital game keys." There is no legal way to fraudulently obtain a digital game key. That makes them illegal game keys, no matter how legitimate subsequent transactions appeared to be. This is why the situation is serious, because the list of victims does not stop with the original fraud. Each subsequent time that those digital keys exchanged hands added to the list of victims. At no point do those keys suddenly become legal keys. Sadly, the consumer is often the one left holding the bag in the end.

First of all, I'm sorry that this happened and that I was involved since I really didn't expect my key to be stolen from someone, but I have one question: I had the Imperial Edition and is it possible for me now to just buy the normal version and lose the imperial bonuses? Or am I actually restricted to buying the Imperial Edition now, if I want to continue using my account?
    Thanks in advance!

I wonder this to, did you get it to work with a standard version?
