What if 5500 & 3000 crown packs included a 1 month subscription?

Disclaimer: I'm not supporting this idea, I'm just curious.

Currently you can buy a pack of 1,500 crowns, which costs the same as a subscription or you can sub and get the crowns and the sub benefits. In this case it is obvious better to buy a 1 month subscription to get both than to buy the crown pack alone.

However there are also more expensive 3,000 and 5,500 crown packs, which do not have an equivalent subscription package. Buying these makes the crowns slightly cheaper, but you miss out on the sub benefits.

I was planning on buying a crown pack and started off thinking the 'obvious' choice is to buy the 5,500 pack because it offers the best value for money. I don't need that many crowns now but I'm sure I'll spend them eventually and in the long-run it's cheaper than buying multiple smaller packs.

Then I started thinking maybe instead I could buy a 1 month subscription, which is the same price as a 1500 crown pack and would get me the crowns (enough for the items I want now) and the subscription perks.

It seems kind of counter-intuitive to have a downside to buying the higher value packs as this may well discourage people (i.e. me) from buying them, in favour of subscribing temporarily. But on the other hand maybe the cheaper price per crown is supposed to be an equal (or even better) perk?

So I started thinking maybe they could offer the subscription perks (exactly the same as the current sub, I am not suggesting any tiered subs, no 15% XP gain if you buy 3,000 crowns, 20% if you buy 5,500 etc.) with the larger priced crown packs so there is no downside to buying them and anyone who can afford that option is more likely to go for it.

After some consideration I'm still not really sure what I think of this idea, so I thought I'd throw it out and see what other people think.

As @Gidorick and myself have pointed out multiple times and offered solutions to is that ESO plus needs a rehaul.
If they do it right it would be a better solution than stacking problems ontop of problems.

Can you provide a link to your ideas?

I assume you intend to make the subscription worthwhile for everyone, so everyone chooses to subscribe and this would be largely a non-issue. But wouldn't that also make the crown packs (particularly the more expensive ones) even more undesirable?

Unless they also added enough stuff to the crown store each month that many people couldn't get everything they wanted with their 1,500 sub crowns and needed 2 or 3 times that at least some months. But I can't see that working in the long-run. ZOS couldn't keep producing items that quickly whilst still making them good and varied enough that they're worth having.

$14.99 = 1 Month Subscription yields 1500 Crowns (1500C per month)
$41.97 = 3 Month Subscription yields 5250 Crowns (1750C per month)
$77.94 = 6 month Subscription Yields 12000 Crowns (2000C per month)

I'm sure you're wondering:

"But Gid, why would anyone buy Crown Packs if they can just get them for a little bit cheaper through the ESO+ Subscription?"

And I would respond:

"Well, hypothetical friend, ZOS would have the task of convincing me to spend all of my 12000 Crowns during a 6 month period and then to produce more content so I want more crowns, those would be when the Crown Packs. are purchased."

Can do but what i am pointing out is the only difference to subbing and buying crowns is 10% bonus that is a joke verse more crowns for your money. I believe that the ESO plus needs to be reworked to make it more appealing instead of cramming more into the crowns.

If they were to rework ESO+ and felt like offering it to crown buyers that would be great.
But if they figure that instead of reworking the subscription they instead offer it as an incentive to buy the higher crown packs then there is a problem.

Yeah Garrett is a brillant bugga but he is losing faith in ZOS with each passing month and wont be playing soon at this rate.

Make subs the gold standard players shouldn't have to think to sub, this gives zos reliable and predictable income and gives players the option to spend more...and frankly zos should have some incentive to produce desirable quality material

I would agree that if you purchased 39.99 dollar crown pack that it comes with a free month of membership minus the 1500 crowns that'd be fair imo. Other than that I'm cool with what I get for subing and shouldn't change it I pay because I did from the start and I support the game I play. Even if they don't add or fix things I see wrong or should be changed I pay for what this game could be. Not to mention the monthly crowns I get

Others don't and I'm cool with that I have no problems with people paying for free after they have purchased that game. It's a great moddel for mmos and seems to work for them. The perks of paying a monthly fee should be low ingame because then I'd really be an imbalance in fairness to those that don't but did purchase the game.

But I don't think that someone who pays the three months or six months should get any more crowns a month they what someone who pays monthly. As matter of fact it's the people that pay monthly you want to keep happy cause we pay more money to them in a year then anybody else so zos stands make far more money off monthly subs then
They do the other. What they have now works and is fair for both those who pay and don't pay.

If only there was some method for you to pay a nominal fee and get everything included instead of being nickel and dimed for purchases a la carte. Then people wouldn't have to spend all their time calculating the cost of everything and they could just focus on playing the game. It's too bad there hasn't been any revolutionary pay system like that invented. Oh wait..yeah that's called a "subscription".

I love how the people that were complaining about the subscription cost are now complaining about the P2W shop prices. The new P2W shop tears are delicious.

There is however fundamental difference between old subscription and subscription as you put it. What you describe is basically just cap on spending: pay X per month and you will get all P2W elements in one pack or enough crowns to buy them, and whoever pays more than X will not get an advantage over you.
What you got with old subscription was not only that nobody had advantage over you, but also that you had no advantage over anyone else; you got fair play.

I'm not sure what you just said right there. If you are trying to make a point that ESO+ is not a true subscription then I would agree with you. I'm not making a point about ESO+. I was referring to an actual subscription that everyone had to pay and everyone got access to the same content with no P2W elements involved so I think we are in agreement? Not sure though!

I love this idea, but I think it should be limited to the 5500 Crowns bundle only, just because 3000 crown packs with a 1-month sub would need a price increase to avoid becoming the preferred subscription model, which would (among other things) cause the community to rage over a de-facto price increase.

Yes, it wouldn't be an actual price increase any more than b2p is actually f2p. But we all know how reasonable the community and media can be about describing such distinctions.

And just to give credit where credit is due, this gave me a similar idea I'm going to poll in the discussions, but I got it from this thread: What if a month of ESO Plus could be purchased with Crowns?
