Mages guild progression ....

Ive seen people in other alliances EP and DC posting mages guild rank 10's pre vet levels (usually on a level 15-25 character) so I tried it myself. Im in AD after collecting every single book from every zone every dungeon finishing both mages and fighters guild I'm rank 9 240/260.... Why are other alliances able to get something AD are unable? Was this intentional, did the problem just get ignored for over a year would love some clarification.

The only way for anyone to get up to Mages Guild pre-vet levels is to grab a bunch of lorebooks in Cyrodiil. Well, unless they complete the main quest and start running around the Cadwell's Silver zones before hitting VR1. It's possible to do it that way too.

Including Coldharbour and the group dungeons of the other factions? I'm 95% sure that if you've got all of those you should already be at rank 10...

Other factions are vet level, thats my problem. I have every coldharbour book. I do not want to be vet level to get rank 10... and other factions do not have to but so far as im seeing AD does, simply because you NEED the other factions books and you cant get them until your vet level

You don't need to be vet level to access the group dungeons of the other factions. As soon as you've done your own faction's group dungeon of that rank you can access the corresponding group dungeons of the other factions. So if you're AD and you've completed Banished Cells, you can access Spindleclutch and Fungal Grotto, and you can get the lorebooks from them. That's a total of 10 lorebooks from the other factions that you can access before you complete the main quest and go to your Cadwell's Silver zones.

Ok, i dont think I am being clear, EP and DC are able to get rank 10 in mages guild at level 15, meaning they do not need to finish the main quest line. I have finished every dungeon, not just the AD ones but EVERY dungeon, I have collected all cyrodiil books, all dungeon from every faction and every lorebook from AD side. Now do you see why I am asking? how can EP and DC finish it by level 15 yet AD must wait till 45 AND complete the main quest to go to another faction to finish it.

Maybe one of the collections (Auridon Lore, Grahtwood Lore, etc) is bugged and doesn't give you the +20 points in the skill line for completing the collection then.

So its a bug that has been in game for over a year and never fixed..... considering I do a lot of pvp and that unlocks meteor that is kind of a big deal. That is like saying because I am on AD i cant get one of my class ultimates until lvl 45 after a very long and boring quest.... but the other factions can.... just because...

This is What I was meaning. Literally every book that I am able to get, Every single dungeon, all zones including cyrodiil available to me unless i finish main quest, and also full mages guild and fighters guild done. Yet you can find others that are not AD

yet people have this, Would love if a dev or someone could explain why AD is restricted

other then that, i got mage guild 10 at lvl 15 on a nightblade and i soloed everything except the 3 dungeons. I will say beating all the mage guild quest at the low level was a challenge but not impossible.

Yep, same problem here. From what I knew EP was in the same boat skill point wise, do they have the points needed for pre-vet rank 10?

From what I've seen, talking to other players yes they do, both other factions I have been told can. Seeing the many posts by other factions it seems that AD are the only one that can't. More than a bit annoying considering I've seen both factions pre vet cast shooting star on me =(

I just have a strange idea why there're books missing...

Somehow I now think this could be related; were these books forgotten to be placed at the correct spots?

You don't need to complete your alliance's dungeon first, you can do them in any order.

You also level up the skill line by using the skills in the skill line, not just the books.

Actually, you don't. It's one of the skill lines with special levelling requirements and while skills themselves level up like you describe, the overal skill tree doesn't.

As Rosveen said you only gain xp from the books. I even took special note that the mages guild quests gave no xp to the skill like either, only the books you find during the quests do.

Only if you're grouped with someone who has access to the other dungeons. If you've got a group of 4 AD people, none of whom have done Banished Cells, they can't get to Fungal Grotto. If at least one of them has done BC first, that one can port to FG and the other can port to them.

UrQuan you are able to do the dungeons without doing the AD one first, just talk to the undaunted people in the zone and they give you the locations for the other 2 dungeons.

^ What he said. You can unlock all three dungeons by talking to the Undaunted, then you're free to port whereever you want.

I am waiting to be given the Chataue of the Ravenous Rat quest I am Mages guild 6 and lvl 32 but Shalidor is not appearing for me. Where can I find him? Valast is still in Mournhold talking about the quest I just completed.

Based on your comments, it seems like you may actually have 1345, and one of the AD collections has not dished out the completion reputation.

@ZOS_TristanK could you please check whether Auridon Lore, Grahtwood Lore, Greenshade Lore, Malabal Tor Lore and Reaper's March Lore are all giving the appropriate 20 MG rep for collection completion? Thanks!
